07-28-2017 (Friday) Watch Out, Chad!

“Marlena” sits on the park bench; Angelika comes through the gate and asks if she was able to talk to Bonnie Lockhart, and if she is willing.  Hattie asks who wouldn’t want to get revenge on the man who wronged her.  Angelika says she needs to focus on using her influence to get Bonnie released from Statesville so she can switch places with Adrian; Hattie says it’ll be a piece of cake as soon as she switches places with Marlena.   Marlena shows Roman a photo of the kids; he says he is going to put it in a frame and hang it up.  He tells her Kayla has been helping him out there at the Pub while she’s on suspension.  They wonder how it could have ever gotten this far; Marlena says it seems like they are trying to push her out.  She says it’s a shame because Kayla is such a wonderful doctor.  He asks if there is any more news on Sonny; she says they might hear something soon.  He notices something in her voice and asks if everything is okay between her and John.  He says, “long distance relationships aren’t easy; they are hard.”  She begins to deny it being a long distance relationship, then realizes it actually is.  She says they are committed though; still she gets lonely sometimes, you know, she says.  She asks about there being any lucky woman in his life; he shrugs his shoulders.  She tells him the right woman could walk through that door anytime now.  Angelika tells Hattie she has to promise not to become fixated on Roman and forget what their purpose is; Angelika gives her a key to Marlena’s townhouse.  Roman thanks Marlena for the photo; Marlena hugs him goodbye.  A man at a table calls Angelika and says, “she set it all up… you’re all clear.”  Hattie heads off; Angelika looks uncertain.

Kayla brings her last box out of the office.  She tells Steve she thinks they should just let the investigation run its course; Steve says he isn’t leaving until he gets some answers.  As they start to walk away, Tripp tells them to wait.  He says he should go with them; Kayla tells him his support means a lot to her, and Steve agrees.  They let him come with them to talk to the nurse Steve suspects.  When Steve begins to question her, she looks at Tripp.  Then she says she’s listening; Steve tells her they believe the charts in question were altered after Kayla made her entries.  She asks if they suspect her of doing that; Steve says he knows she was fired from her last job for insubordination.  She says they are out of their minds and she isn’t going to let them pin this on her.  Steve asks why she didn’t tell the detective that Tripp stopped her from giving the wrong dose of medicine to Hope.  She asks if that’s what they think really happened.  Regardless of Tripp’s insistence, she says she double-checked the dosage and it wasn’t out of line for the ordinary patient; she was just following the doctor’s orders.  She says if the chart was altered, someone else did it, not her; she tells Kayla she respects her and would never do that.  She leaves the room; Steve asks Tripp if he still thinks she’s the one who set Kayla up.  He says he isn’t sure what to say; then he says it has to be because no one else here has a reason, or direct access to Kayla’s tablet.  Kayla says someone else on the staff could have found a way to hack into the system; Steve says he will check that out.  Tripp says he’s going with him; Kayla goes to turn in her badge and keys.  Steve tells her again she will cleared.

Marlena is in her room, in her robe, waiting for John to come home; she hears the door and hollers, “I’m upstairs honey” as she lays back on the bed.  She pours two glasses of champagne and says surprise when the door opens; Hattie says, “right back atcha.”  Steve asks Claire for the schedule of the Candy Stripers; she questions why and Tripp tells her what their suspicions are.  Tripp steps close to Claire and tells her that he isn’t sure someone else actually did this; he says while he’s been shadowing Kayla, he has noticed how distracted she is sometimes.  Tripp leaves to go study the schedule; Steve asks Claire if she’s noticed anyone talking bad about Kayla.  She says, “no.”  She tells him Tripp seems really dedicated; he’s there even on his days off, she says, usually hanging out around the nurses station.  Not where she would want to be in her off time, she adds.

Chad asks Abigail if it’s true she is going with Dario into witness protection; Dario steps in and tells Chad he doesn’t have a right to question his wife.  Abigail asks Dario to tell her talk to Chad; she tells Chad she has to do this.  He brings up “his” son and Abigail says, “he’s my son too.”  Chad says, “not if you are going to abandon him like this.”  Dario tells Abby they need to get going; the FBI is waiting for them, he says.  Chad turns around and grabs Dario, telling him he isn’t taking his son’s mother; Dario says he doesn’t doubt Chad would kill someone who stood in his way.  They begin to struggle with each other and Abigail steps in the middle, telling them to stop; she pushes Chad away and tells Dario if Chad finds out what he did, he will go turn himself in right now, save Sonny, and there would be no reason for her to go with him.  Dario leaves the room; she tells Chad she has to go with him, saying, “it just has to be this way.”  But Chad follows her out of the room, insisting she tell him why she is doing this; she tells him, “I’m doing this for you.”  He says he doesn’t understand, but tells her he, Thomas, JJ, her mother, they all need her there; he begs her not to go and tells him whatever it is they can fix it… he promises.  He tells her he wants her to stay; then he accuses her of being selfish.  She turns away; he imagines Thomas growing up without her, and says he’ll tell him the truth, that she abandoned him because she thought it was for the best.  He yell that he can’t believe she is putting them through this again; he admits that he can’t stop thinking about her, what they had, what they are, what they should have been and everything.  He says he can’t even move on with Gabi because she’s always between them; she asks how.  He pulls the ring out of his pocket, crying, and tells Abby about the fight he and Gabi had; she apologizes.  Then he gets angry and tells her if she leaves, maybe he can be done with her and tells her to go ahead and leave; he tells her she is dead to him, and tells her to do him a favor this time and stay dead (wow… harsh).

Claire comes out and finds Joey staring at Ava’s pictures; when she asks why, he explains the conversation he and Tripp were having and where it led.  Claire realizes how bad that made Joey feel about what he did to Ava.  Joey is about to tell Claire something when Theo walks in; Joey says he needs to go and leaves.  Theo asks Claire if he is alright; she says yeah.  He asks if she’s leaving; dressed in her scrubs, she says, “no, I just dress like this for fun.”  She notices Theo is upset and asks him what’s wrong, promising him that he can trust her; he tells her that Chad is in a lot of trouble.  Just as he begins to explain, Abe knocks on the door and asks for a moment alone with his son.  At work, Roman sees JoeTy standing at a table; he tells him he appreciates a thorough job, but he’s been bussing that table for five minutes now.  Joey apologizes and says he is just worried about his mom; Roman says he has a sense that there is more than just what he says is going on, and tells him to sit down and humor him.  Roman tells him to talk to him; Joey says it just hurts, knowing how much Tripp misses his mom because of what he did.  He says the closer he gets to his brother, the more he realizes how much he hurt him.

Abe tells Theo he wants to talk about what he’s been doing for the DeMiras.  He says he realizes that Theo is his own man, and he hopes he has taught him to make the right ones; he gives the computer back and tells Theo that he didn’t look at what was on there.  He says he was tempted, but he realized he needs to show his trust with more than just words; he says he shouldn’t have taken it and apologizes.  Theo says he loves him; but he explains that the DeMiras are also his family and he is going to do what he can to help them.  “Fair enough,” Abe says, and he asks for a hug; Theo hugs him and smiles.  Abe tells Theo to take care; he says he will.  He opens the laptop the moment his dad leaves, to see that the picture of Chad is still on the desktop; he begins to do what he can to get rid of it.  Chad and Abigail still argue; Dario interrupts and tells Chad to leave her alone.  They push Abby out of the way; she gets a call from Theo.  He tells her he has deleted the picture; he swears Dario no longer has it, on his phone, on the Cloud, anywhere… he says it’s gone.  Abby realizes she doesn’t have to go; lights shine as a car drives by.  Dario ducks out of the way; Abigail screams for Chad to look out.
