Kayla explains procedure to
Tripp as he follows her on rounds; she remembers that one of her patients died
last night and tells Tripp, no matter how many times it happens, she never gets
used to losing a patient, adding that if he is going to be a doctor, he will
have to develop thick skin. She tells
the nurse to bring her all of the patient’s records, so she can go over
everything to make sure all actions taken were proper; Tripp notes that any
little mistake in caring for a patient can be costly. Kayla tells Tripp that she is really happy he has an interest in
medicine, and has enjoyed working with him – despite loosing that patient. She dismisses him for the day and he thanks
her for teaching him; she hugs him and says she will see him later. Steve comes into the Pub and sees Adrian and
Justin; he asks if they have heard anything new on the search. Adrian says no; Steve says he has contacted
the ISA and they are going to use resources to aid in the search; Arian says
they are joining the search to and are determined to bring their son home.
Tripp watches closely as Kayla talks compassionately to their next patient, who is working two jobs to take care of her adult son; Kayla tells the lady she needs to take care of herself, so she can BE THERE for her son. Steve tells Adrian what he found out about “Sebastian Howard” – she wonders why now – s they haven’t heard from Angelica in all these years.Paul seems to be returning to himself, but is still burning up with fever; he tells them he still doesn’t want to be untied because he isn’t sure what he will do. He tells Sonny, if it comes down to him or them, he needs to promise he will kill him; Sonny says he is not going to let it come down to that. Paul feels the fever coming on again, and tells Eli he needs him to do what the others won’t; Eli says he will do what he wants, if he has to. Gabi and Chad wake up, under a blanket on the beach; he tells her he feels like they are right where they are supposed to be. He tells her getting away from all the expectations and pressures of what other people think, and being able to get lost in their selves, is one benefit of being stranded on an island; Lani and JJ happen by. JJ looks noticeable bothered by the fact that they are naked under the blanket; Lani tells them they all need to meet up to decide what to do next. She says they have to stop thinking about being rescued and look long-term, about what they need to do to survive; they leave… Chad and Gabi start to giggle.
They find a plum tree; Chad lifts Gabi up on his shoulders to get the fruit. Lani asks JJ if he’s okay, mentioning that he seemed a little upset earlier about Gabi and Chad; he acknowledges they are adults and can do what they want. As Chad and Gabi sit, eating the fruit and talking, they acknowledge that they make a good team; they hear someone calling out – it’s Marlena - she and John have found them.Sonny and Eli argue over whether to abide by Paul’s wishes or not; Sonny says he is out of his mind and they can’t listen to anything he says. Gabi and Chad run up, telling them they have been rescue; Paul gets loose from his ties, jumps up and tries to grab Eli’s gun. They wrestle him to the ground and get him under control; Sonny tells Marlena and John about the Jungle Fever. Eli asks Lani if she is okay; she says she’s find, just can’t wait to get home to the people that love her. Chad tells Gabi he has something to do before they leave; they go and bury the amulet in the sand. Sonny sees them, and considers digging it up.
Steve gets a call from Kayla; she tells him she and Tripp had a great day. He is happy to hear that; Tripp texts Jade to meet him at the Square. He tells her he was really impressed with Kayla, for about five minutes; he tells Jade he is not fooled by Kayla’s kindness. She says good, calling Kayla a “cold-hearted bitch, period.” He says it’s not enough to just hate her; he is going to take action; he tells her rounds were enlightening. He tells her about the review of a patient’s file after a death; he says he just needs to get into that patient’s file and change the notes to make it look like Kayla did something wrong. He says he is going to make people start to doubt her; Jade says she has complete faith in him. He says he is going to ruin her career. Jade adds her two cents, saying they have to move slowly and careful so no one is on to them; Tripp says Kayla is in for a big surprise. He looks up to see his dad standing there. Adrian gets a phone call telling her that the kids have been found; they are coming home
