06-30-2017 (Friday) All's Well that Ends Well

Chad is on the phone with Gabi; he says he can barely believe Deimos is really gone.  He says, at least he won’t be hurting anyone else; he hangs up and his mind flashes to the memory of kissing Abigail in her room after saying their unofficial vows and putting the ring on her finger.  Joey is at work at the Pub; Steve tells him to sit down with them.  Joey says he has to close out some customers and then move some kigs; Tripp offers to help him move them.  He jokingly says, “as long as it doesn’t hurt my thumb” and then asks Joey if they are going to have a rematch tonight; they invite Steve to join, but he declines, saying he’s only interested if “Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde” are involved.  They have no idea he is talking about Pac Man.  Still sitting in the square, Chad looks at pictures of him and Abigail on his phone, including the same one Abigail has in her drawer of them with Thomas.  He calls Abby; he claims he is calling to check on JJ, asking if he is still being interrogated.  She says yeah, and he apologizes for bothering her; he asks her if they can meet later, to talk about what happened.

Lani waits nervously in the station; Eli tells her not to worry.  She says she basically implicated him in a murder; Abigail comes in.  The commissioner asks JJ if he is sure he doesn’t want an attorney; he says he doesn’t need one – he insists he just doesn’t remember anything because of “the damn drug.”  Abigail gets made at Lani for making JJ a suspect; she says she has an obligation to tell the truth.  Abby apologizes and says she knows.  Commissioner Raines says he thinks he has a way to jog his memory; Lani and Abigail go in to talk to JJ after the commissioner leaves.  JJ pushes Lani to remember anything she might have heard he or Deimos say; she says she just recalls seeing the fight.  Lani takes Eli aside to make sure he knows that the kiss between them shouldn’t have happened; he says they were out of their minds on the drug and didn’t know what they were doing.  She goes to get a drink of water.  The commissioner comes back, with Marlena; she sits down with JJ.  She works with him, through hypnosis, to take him back to the Martin House and his confrontation with Deimos; she asks if he remembers.  He says he does; he starts to breathe heavily.  He says he remembers a struggle and then, he jumps in his seat, thrashing about; Marlena decides to end the session and commands him to open his eyes.  She the commissioner, although he remembers attacking Deimos, JJ has no memory of killing him; the commissioner walks her out and Lani comes in.  JJ tells her it’s a pretty safe bet he is the one who killed Deimos.

Hope is seizing; now in the hospital, Kayla asks Rafe what happened.  He tells her about Deimos slipping into the party and drugging everyone; she asks if they caught him, and he says they didn’t have to because he was murdered.  She asks for explanation; he says they were all just out of their minds on the drug.  Hope starts to seize again; Kayla sends him out of the room.  Steve and Tripp come into the hospital and ask what’s going on; Rafe tells Steve, briefly, about the drugging and Deimos’ death.  Tripp watches through the window, as Kayla works with Hope; she comes out and says she got Hope stabilized.  She says this new version is very different, so Hope isn’t having as intense a reaction to the drug; she tells Rafe she is going to be fine.  Tripp says she’s lucky to have Kayla as her doctor.  Steve offers to take Kayla to lunch while Rafe sits with Hope; the nurse leaves the station again.  Tripp grabs Hope’s chart; he sees 2.5 mgs of Visteral ordered… he changes it to 25 mgs instead.  He looks through the window and tells Hope he will be back to catch Dr. Johnson’s mistake before she administers the drug, and he heads back to help Joey.

Rafe tells Hope he remembers asking her to marry him and swears that wasn’t the drug talking; he says nothing would make him happier than spending the rest of his life with her, and kisses her on the forehead.  He goes out and asks if anyone is going to give Hope a sedative because she seems like she could use it; the nurse says she’ll head in there now.  Tripp tells Joey that Hope is going to be alright, and says she has the benefit of having the best, most competent doctor around; Joey agrees.  He talks about how happy Kayla is at work, and how great she is with the staff; Joey says he’s happy he is enjoying his experience with her.  He brags about how she worked, saving lives all day, and coached little league all summer, saying she did it all; he says she checked out books on baseball and learned everything she could to do it.  He says the league was short on coaches that year, and they wouldn’t have had a team if she hadn’t stepped up.  He then apologizes, realizing he is being insensitive to Tripp not having a mother at all; Tripp says it’s okay, admitting he can’t imagine what it would have been like, because even his adopted mom died when he was young.

Steve sees a picture in Kayla’s office of her and Tripp; she tells him one of her favorite pediatric patients took it the other day.  She says Tripp is kind and considerate and caring with the patients; she really thinks he could have a career in medicine.  Steve tells her that makes him happy, they are getting along so well.  Tripp comes back to notice Hope’s chart missing; he sees the nurse in her room, runs in and yells, “stop.”  He tells her that Kayla was supposed to let him watch her inject the Visteral; she says okay, and starts to show him how it’s done.  Tripp tells her to wait, looking at the chart, and says Doctor Johnson said she was supposed to have a low dose because of the Halo in her system; Kayla comes back and confirms that the dosage on the chart is wrong, saying that’s not what she ordered.  She thanks Tripp for catching her mistake.

Chad and Abigail meet, and talk about renewing their vows (in their drug-induced blissfulness) last night; he says he remembers kissing her and asks if she remembers anything else.  They agree nothing went any further, since they both woke up with their clothes on; they talk about Deimos murder and their concern for JJ being a suspect.  Chad says he just wanted her to know that what happened… Abigail interjects, “doesn’t matter.”  She says it’s okay, she knows he is with Gabi now and she is with Dario; she says she’s always gonna care about him, and this evening solidified that for her.  She says he is the father of her child, so – she laughs, and says, “I’ll talk to you later.”  Chad says okay.  Rafe goes back in to see Hope; she wakes up.  He says she gave them quite a scare; she asks what happened.  He reminds her that Deimos is gone; she pulls him down on the bed beside her and cuddles up to him.  Kayla frets about how she could have entered the orders incorrectly; Steve says she’s been under a lot of stress.  She condemns the thought, saying this is not the kind of mistake she makes and if she was that stressed, she should have had someone covering for her.  Steve tells her it’s okay; she says, “only thanks to Tripp.”
