06-26-2017 (Monday) Good Riddance?

Tripp comes to ask Kayla when she wants him to shadow her again; she receives an alert that someone is coding and she has to go.  When the nurses step away from the front desk, Tripp goes up and takes a look at a patient’s file, who had died.  He changes the orders, up-ing the Morphine dose to a lethal limit; he says, “how tragic… Doctor Johnson has made a fatal mistake.”  Kayla returns and asks if they can talk at a later time; he says yeah, claiming he has to go anyway.

Theo talks to his dad about the letter Claire hid from him, from Ciara; he is really mad about it and doesn’t know if he can forgive her.  His dad says he knows he has a hard time dealing with people who are unpredictable, and asks if he loves her; he says he does… but, he feels like he doesn’t really know her.  He asks his dad, how can he love someone he doesn’t even know?  Jade knocks on Claire’s door; Claire opens it and says, “no.”  Jade forces her way in and insists that Claire accept her apology, asking what the big deal is; Claire says she told Jade no and Jade made the video anyway… she tells her she never wants to talk to her again.  Jade goes to gripe to Joey, at the Pub, that Claire won’t forgive her; he asks what she expected and as she complains that it was harmless and hardly anybody saw the sex video she made of Theo and Claire, Kayla walks up behind her.  Kayla tells Jade nothing excuses that type of behavior; Jade brings up Joey murdering Ava.  Kayla can’t believe she would just spout that out right there in public; Joey takes his mother aside and tries to calm her down, but Kayla tells him this has to stop.  She says his ‘friendship’ with Jade is not healthy for him, saying that girl is not going to go quietly into the night; Jade steps into the picture in the background over Joey’s shoulder, as Kayla tells him, “she could ruin your life forever.”

Joey asks his mom to have enough faith in him to handle this on his own; he tells her Jade is his problem and he will deal with her.  Kayla says okay, shrugging her shoulders; she leaves, still obviously concerned.  Jade’s first words are, “that woman doesn’t know how to stop.”  He reminds her that woman is his mom; Jade just gloats in the fact that he stuck up for her, and that he gets that she didn’t do it to be mean.  He tries to nicely point out that what she did was disgusting, and the fact that she doesn’t see anything wrong with it, means she might have a problem; he tells her she should talk to someone, professional.  She tells him she will, for him; she hugs him and leaves.

Eric tells Nicole he understands working with him isn’t going to be easy; she tells him this isn’t about him, calling him a big jerk, and tells him she just lost Holly.  She explains to him the events of that morning; he can’t believe the judge put the baby in foster care.  Eric says she will get Holly back after that; Nicole agrees, saying she is going to prove that she is a responsible person, capable of raising her daughter.  She then tells him that she really doesn’t want to talk about anything personal with him anymore, asking if they keep their conversations strictly work-related; he concedes.  They spend the rest of the afternoon in almost complete silence; Eric’s mom calls.  Eric is delighted with her news; he tells Nicole about the idea to spread the awareness of the Horton Center at the Martin House party.  Nicole says launching the campaign at a party is a great idea; she says she has more ideas about how to jumpstart the fundraiser and goes to make some calls.  Jade walks in the door; Eric asks if he can help her.  She says she needs to talk to a counselor; Eric says he’s free now.  Jade introduces herself; she tells Eric she is there because of Joey, adding she is trying to be a better person for him.

Theo finds Claire at work and asks her if they can talk; he says he’s thought about it and says sometimes when people are different, being together can be good, but he also says it can be bad.  He tells her he doesn’t think they are a good match; she asks if he is breaking up with her, and he says, “yeah, I am.”  She asks if he is going to call Ciara now and tell her they can hook up; he says this isn’t about Ciara – it’s about them.  He says he just doesn’t think it is going to work between them; she says, “fine, whatever” and walks away.  Kayla asks Claire if she’s okay; Claire says it was bound to happen.  She tells Kayla she is right about Jade, saying, “she’s a total wrecking ball.”  After Jade tells Eric what she did; he asks if she ever thought that she was violating their privacy.  She says no, saying it’s all over the internet and television, noting a show called Masters of Sex; she says she didn’t think it was that big a deal.  Eric asks her to put herself in their place and think of how she would feel; she says, if they did it to help, like she did, it’d be okay.

Erictells her sex is a private and intimate expression of love between two people; she claims she knows that, but then calls herself an idiot.  She says she just wants Joey to love her the way she loves him; Eric tells her she needs to learn to love herself.  She asks how she does that; he suggests setting goals, figuring out what she wants to do with her life, what makes her who she is and makes her feel great about herself – rather than needing someone else’s love to feel okay.  She says it sounds hard; he tells her feeling needy scares other people away.  Jade admits that she has read that; men like independent woman.  He says not to make it about what attracts a man; he tells Jade she needs to make it about her feeling better about herself and what she needs.  She thanks him and asks if she could come back to talk again sometime; he says of course and gives her his card and direct number.  She says she is glad she came and leaves.  Nicole watches from the doorway and looks somewhat impressed; after Jade leaves Nicole tells Eric she needs to go home.

Tripp finds Jade in the Square and tells her that he changed the medication dose to make it look like Kayla killed that patient last week; Jade says, “good riddance” to Kayla.

Jen and Adrian talk about their new nemesis; they can’t believe Jack’s step-mother wants to take the Spectator away from them.  Suddenly, Angelica sits down next to them.  Adrian asks what’s with this pathetic need for revenge after all of these years; Angelica says this has nothing to do with the past, claiming it is all about the present, and tells them she is calling in the loan.  Adrian asks if she thought how Jack would feel about this; Angelica claims this is business and not personal.  Adrian protests that this is because Angelica hates her for being with Justin; she says this is just how the real world works.  Adrian says there is nothing real about her, pointing out that she used a fake name and fake corporation to try to take the paper away; she tells Angelica she’s going down.  She says she only used the alias to prevent any misunderstanding; she tells Jen she appreciates what she is trying to do, then brings up Adrian’s “abortive wedding to Lucas Horton last year,” claiming it is bad publicity.  Adrian says that was not common knowledge; Angelica claims she “heard it on the grapevine.”  Jen comes to Adrian’s defense, saying she has been through a lot this past year; Angelica says a lot of women go through breast cancer, but they don’t use it to string two men along.  Adrian stands up, as if to slap Angelica; Angelica grabs her by the arm and they begin to wrestle.  Jen breaks it up, asking Adrian if she’s okay; Angelica tells them they have three weeks to figure out the loan, or the paper is hers and leaves.
