DAYS OF OUR LIVES, Fantasy or Fairy Tail?

I started this blog November 2015 because of one particular episode that I was so astonished by, I could scarcely believe that it had been written that way (see Featured Post below). I wanted to send a MESSAGE TO THE WRITERS of Days that they need to shape up, or this soap might very well go the way of my old favorites All My Children and One Life to Live. Help me help this show by reading my blog, commenting - offer your opinion to the writers - and let's make Days better than it's ever been!

01-27-2017 (Friday) STEFFANO IS ALIVE

Deimos tells Maggie and Victor about Holly being their grandchild, Daniel’s child; Maggie is overwhelmed. Chloe comes in with the baby; although hesitant to, she does allow Maggie to hold her. She doesn’t let her hang onto the baby for very long though; and will hear nothing about them taking Holly home with them. She says, she is going to take care of Holly until a court says otherwise.

Justin tells Nicole that her bail hearing went well; she just has to put together the funds. She is anxious to find out how soon they can get proof that Holly is her baby girl; Justin goes to check on her processing. Daniel appears…he tells her how happy he is about the baby, and what a great mom he knows she will be – he never says anything about Deimos, which surprises me – just that he trusts Nicole to take care of their baby girl. When Brady comes back in, she talks to him about how Daniel is still here in so many ways; he agrees. Maggie and Victor come in to see Nicole; they congratulate her on their beautiful grandbaby.

Rafe waits nervously with his phone, hoping to get news about Steffano to save Hope; Shane shows up at the door. He tells them that he has about a dozen pictures of this man that they think may be Steffano…the problem is, he says, that none of the pictures have enough points to match to the facial recognition system. After pondering the quandary for a while, they find a program that can put all of the pictures together, to build a full profile of facial points. It matches the data in the system; this is, indeed Steffano!

01-26-2017 (Thursday)

Chad stares at Abigail in her tight blue dress; they are both acting very awkward. Abigail gives a little speech about how she and Gabi are trying to be honest with each other and rebuild their friendship; she says Gabi wants their marriage to work because she is not a home-wrecker. He steps closer. She tells him she is part of the family, like it or not; he says he likes it, and they kiss. Just as things are getting really passionate, Andre bursts in and says they have a business emergency; Kate comes in right behind him. Chad tells Andre to go ahead and tell everything to the ladies. He does. Chad dismisses the situation and tells them he and his wife want some private time; he tells Kate and Andre to strategize their hearts out. He hangs a ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door, bringing up a memory of their wedding night, then apologizes. She says she never wants to forget what they said that day; he tells her he loves her, and they both look at the bed. Chad undresses Abigail slowly, to a nice love-song; she returns the favor as they continue kissing. They lay down on the bed and the camera pans down to the floor; next shot, they are tangled up in the sheets together, careful to keep them wrapped around them while they roll around together doing a lot of kissing and maybe some love-making.

Kate and Andre proceed to argue whether Chad is better off with Abby or Gabi; Andre tells her it doesn’t matter because that ship has sailed. He reminds her they have a child together, who is related to her child, so that makes her family; she disagrees. They get pretty angry about it, as she adds that she blames him for her breakup with Eduardo; she picks up her cup and takes a drink. Lucas is sitting at a table at the café; Adrian shows up and asks if she can sit down. She is putting on a good front; he tells her that her fighting spirit and feistiness is one reason he wants to marry her. Her smile kind of fades. She tells him she can’t be with anyone now; she feels she has to go through this alone. She says she’ll have no hard feelings if either he or Justin want to move on; he takes her hand and says he’ll wait as long as it takes. She gets a call about newspaper business; she hangs up and says she needs some one to fill in for her when she doesn’t feel up to getting out of bed. Just then Anne walks in; Lucas says he thinks he knows who she can get. Adrian doesn’t look happy with that idea, but ends up hiring her, saying she has to run it by Jennifer though.

Steve, Kayla, Marlena and Rafe are still in Europe; they are discussing what else they can do, but exhausting all possibilities, Rafe says all they can do is wait and pray for a miracle. For some reason, everyone decides they should go get ice cream; Rafe gets angry with them, saying Hope’s life is on the line and he feels he’s the only one who gets that. The guys end up arguing; Kayla tells them to calm it down some. She says she and Steve will just take a walk; Marlena asks Rafe if it’s really Steve he is angry with. He admits he is just angry with the situation. Steve and Kayla sit down at a patio café; a palm reader comes by…she tells Steve she sees a wedding in his future. She sees something frightening in Kayla’s palm; ashes, she says, and the Phoenix. Rafe gets a call; he says they still have one more shot at proving Steffano’s alive.

Hope holds some kind of religious pennant, telling Eric she’s trying to stay strong; he says he has something that might help, and injects her. She says she thinks God sent him to take care of her. She asks if she should keep running or turn herself in; he tells her Steve and Rafe are working on finding evidence of her innocence. He tells her at least she killed a devil; he gets up, as he says, “I killed a saint.” He brings back more cool water to wipe her face down; her wound is infected and she’s burning up with fever now. (He looks pretty sweaty too;-). As he wipes her forehead, he completely misses blood running down the right side. She tells him he is a good man and there is always redemption; he says there is no redemption for him. He realizes how hot she is, grabs her and takes her outside; she drops her pennant. He brings her back in, wet and cold now and wraps her back up in the blanket.

01-25-2017 (Wednesday)

Gabi comes to see Abigail; they discuss what their next step should be since the guys don’t seem to want to get along. Abigail mentions the fact that they both still love Chad; Gabi gets a little upset, but Abby thinks they should be able to talk about it. They hug and decide to get back to discussing the case at hand; Gabi knows “Myron” so Abigail suggests that she Gabi get “glammed up” and sweet talk this guy at the club he frequents. Gabi says she can’t, because he knows her; “but, he doesn’t know you” she tells Abigail. Abby responds with a “yuck” but does a really convincing job playing a sweet, southern gal in a sleek, shiny blue dress, with her lacy bra top exposed. Myron is quite taken; she says she needs Dario to look at her phone. Myron says he can do it, and almost faints when she hands it to him, saying, with a Southern accent, “I think I love you.” He almost melts.

She sits down on his desk, leaning forward and speaking softly, and tells him what an idiot she is when it comes to technology. Gabi warns Abigail by text that Dario is coming; she tries to hurry up and get out of there, but Dario walks in on her before she gets to the door. She tells him she came have him look at her phone, but says Myron was very sweet and took care of it; Myron smiles, then asks what happened to her accent. She denies ever having an accent, and laughing, she walks out the door. She finds Chad talking to Gabi in the club; Gabi was trying to avoid him. Abigail walks up and tells Chad that she and Gabi were having coffee; she says they are friends and they are moving past things. She snuggles up to Chad and suggests that they do the same. He can’t help staring at the dress (or rather, at her boobs in the dress). He kisses her and says, “let’s go home.”

Nicole sits in an interrogation room now, accused of attempted murder; she recollects Chloe saying Holly was her baby, that she was her mother – she looks at Brady for reassurance – he nods his head. She snaps back to reality; Roman is there to question her. She tells him she has a baby; she says she can’t go to prison…she says she can’t think straight, as she remembers her screaming match with Chloe, and Chloe swearing she kept her promise (that was to give Nicole and Daniel a child) she said Deimos was too evil to raise this child. Chloe now sits by Holly’s crib, telling her everything will be all right; a knock comes on the door… it’s Belle. Chloe makes sure she came alone, and tells her that she needs her help keeping her baby. She has decided to sue for custody. Nicole tries to get Roman to go get the baby; he tells Nicole she is listed on the birth certificate as the baby’s biological mother so he can’t take her. He tells her Justin is already working on her arraignment, when she says she needs a lawyer, but, as for the baby, he says, there is nothing he can do.

I can’t believe that Deimos isn’t down at the police station throwing a fit and trying to buy Nicole’s freedom. When he comes in, Nicole is very angry with him because Brady told her that he and Deimos have known for a few weeks that Holly might be her child. He talks her down, of course, gets her to forgive him and assures her that he is going to fix everything; he kisses her and leaves. Sonny and Deimos argue over how they should handle business; Deimos leaves the house. He goes to talk to Dario, telling him he knows he put out that hit on him and simply tells him that he better watch his back from now on.

Belle asks Chloe if she is certain this is what she wants to do; she says it isn’t easy to get custody over a biological parent. But given Nicole’s situation right now, she might have a shot. She tells Belle just to do the best she can do. Brady knocks on Chloe’s door; he insists on talking to her and says he is not going away until she opens the door. She tells him she is suing for custody and Belle admits that she is representing her; he leaves to go tell Nicole. She says she won’t let Chloe take her daughter from her. Roman shows up at Chloe’s to take the baby for a maternity test (they said paternity, lol). Chloe insists on going with her.

01-24-2017 (Tuesday)

Chad runs into Gabi walking through the park; Arianna reaches out for him. He takes her and she hugs him. Gabi tells him she has been having bad dreams; he sits down and plays with her. Chad tells Gabi he needs to impress this lady client; she gives him her advice and goes shopping for him, bringing back a nice gray shirt and green tie, telling him to match it with the tweed jacket she got him a few months ago. They seem to have a hard time saying goodbye, but finally do; she goes on her way. Joey, Claire and Theo are all carrying boxes into the communal apartment, while Claire takes pictures of herself for her social media page; Ciara suggests she sit her phone down and pick up a box, but she acts like a princess, so Ciara tells her so.

Claire's mom and dad show up for a visit, and when Belle offers to help the other kids get more boxes, Claire complains to her dad about being called a ‘princess.’ Shaun asks if she is acting like one; she says of course not. Abe comes by to talk to Theo and Claire; he makes them promise there won’t be any parties going on there, and says he is watching them, even though he isn’t living in his house. Theo says he wouldn’t want it any other way. They order pizza for the kids and say goodbye; Shaun hugs Ciara and promises her that Hope will be fine. Claire starts bitching about the shows her grandparents watch every night; Theo says his dad watches it too… Ciara says Jennifer watches it too. They all wonder about the intrigue; Jade says her folks watch cable news every night and yell at the t.v. Everyone looks at her, as if that was a weird thing to say (sounds completely normal to me). Ciara mentions how long the four of them have known each other; Joey says they should promise to always be friends. They all agree, and then Joey looks over a Jade, sitting alone at the table; she is obviously the outsider and feeling it. (I must say, I like this Jade much better than the first, though… I find her quite likeable.)

Abe, Shaun and Belle are having a drink at the pub and talking about how their kids have grown; they all agree that this is probably going to be harder on them than it will on the kids. Claire and Ciara get in a fight after Theo and Joey decide to go off and play games in the other room; Ciara storms out, and Claire calls out to her saying they have a mess to clean up. Jade stands up and says she’ll do it; Claire swooshes her hair and says she forgot that she was even there. She semi-thanks Jade and hands her the plate she is already holding, and leaves the room; Jade shrugs her shoulders and tells herself, no matter what this should be interesting.

Chloe confesses that Holly is Nicole’s child, with the constant prompting of Brady; she tries twice to just leave and he stops her. Nicole is confused at firsts, then astounded at the news; she does not know what to say. She stands up and asks to hold her, but Chloe refuses; she gives the baby to an officer instead. She defends her decision not to tell Nicole, saying Holly may not be biologically hers, but she can’t let Deimos raise her. Nicole tells her that is not her choice to make; Chloe thinks it is. Things escalate to the point that Nicole is screaming, “give me my baby.”

01-23-2017 (Monday)

Rafe sits, worried about Hope; Eric comes back to find her unconscious and burning up with fever. Rafe asks Anna how things are with her and Austin; she responds that things work out as they are supposed to. She asks about Hope; he admits being worried about her. Kayla receives word that Steve has been shot and flies to see him; stepping in to his room in the middle of the night, unannounced, he pulls a gun on her. They laugh when he realizes it’s her; she embraces him and they kiss, and begin undressing. He tells her she can join the search party; they resume making love.

Dario orders a hit on Deimos; he tells a man to “snap his neck and walk away.” Brady presses Chloe for an answer as to whether Holly is really Nicole and Daniel’s baby; he tells her that he already knows the answer, he just wants her to have the respect to look him in the eye and tell him the truth – he says thereby, she will save everyone of them a lot of heartache. He tells her they know the truth, he explains how they know; he tells her after all, they are still friends and he needs her to level with him. He says he can ask the nurse to come back in and draw a blood sample, or they can go to court have a judge do it; he doesn’t want to go there, but if he has to, he will. She says, okay, she will tell him… she exlains that she had a false negative test at first; only realizing that it was Nicole’s baby when he demanded a parternity test. She said by then Nicole was already with Deimos and she couldn’t let that man raise Daniel’s baby; Brady tells her that wasn’t her choice to make. This is Nicole’s baby; he tells her she is going to tell Nicole the truth and she is going to do it today. Nicole is told that Deimos is at a meeting in the Horton Town Square; she heads off to warn him of Dario’s threat. Deimos is finishing his meeting, shakes hands with a man, still sitting at his table; the man leaves. The hitman starts out from behind a wall; Justin approaches Deimos’ table… he tells Deimos they need to talk. The hitman backs up behind the wall again.

Justin says people die in wars, he can’t shrug this off; Deimos says the drug is over… they have acquired extremely promising technological innovation – he says the others couldn’t perfect it (had access to it at one time)… but he says they have the means to do that. Justin gets a call and excuses himself for a moment, telling Deimos not to move. The hitman makes his move; Nicole sees him going toward Deimos and runs up, grabs a fork and stabs the man in the side… he falls to the ground. Deimos asks why she did that; the fork is bloody. Justin calls an ambulance; Dario hears it as he stands in the park… he says to himself, “mission accomplished.” Nicole tries her best, in her shocked state, to explain that she knew some one was coming after Deimos because of what Dario had said to her; now Deimos believes her. He calls Brady and leaves a message for him to meet at the office now. Brady comes back into the police station, after chasing down Chloe… he tells Nicole she has to be strong, for herself, and for her baby. Chloe walks in behind him.

01-20-2017 (Friday) NO SHOW - Personal Update

Hi everyone! I guess they decided not to put a show on today because of the inauguration of our new President, Donald Trump... Apologies around the world! Lol.

Quick personal update: Trial has been set in the case my mother filed against my daughter - the judge determined, somehow, that there is no need for a pre-trial hearing; straight to trial March 24th... and in the meantime, my daughter is moving forward with the adoption of her three beautiful foster chidlren, and she and her fiance will be married before this case goes to trial.

I am preparing to take my Doctoral Qualifying Exam next week; I believe I am as prepared as I can be for it. I've also just released my first children's book, "This is The Way I Brush My Teeth" which is now available on Amazon or direct through Xlibris. 01-19-2017 (Thursday)

Gabi and Abigail argue; Gabi says she has a right to be there, it’s her family’s club – they get quiet when they hear voices through the vents. Dario, Eduardo and Chad are still discussing their agreement; Dario says he is the outsider and asks why he should trust them. Pulls out…chad…peace…problem. Sonny calls Eduardo an assassin, then starts yelling at Chad about giving orders n taking half their business. Says he just made it personal; he is done w both of them.

Kate runs into Eduardo in the park; she doesn’t want to talk to him. He apologizes; says he is beyond sorry. She says they can’t get past this. They are done. Nicole decides to go see Chloe and the baby again, no back at the hospital; Brady wants to talk to her first. She talks about missing Daniel, saying that planning the wedding with Deimos is bringing back a lot of memories. Deimos is listening.

Sitting at the pub, Nicole calls Deimos; no answer, so she leaves a message. Dario comes in and tells her, when you are that dangerous, bad things happen, he says. she should stay away from “that guy” and she senses that Deimos might be in trouble; she gets up, saying she has to go warn him. Gabi and Abby discuss the fact that they have still managed to remain friends, after all that’s happened; they wonder if there is a way they can intervene to get the guys to get along. Abi says they are all going to fight over it until one of them destroys it, whatever “it” is… Gabi suggests maybe they should destroy “it” first.

Deimos calls someone, saying, "I want that thing today.” He tells this person they have deal, as long as they can get the product to work.  Chloe tries to talk Nicole out of marrying Deimos…says they can't be friends anymore if she does. She tells Nicole she is going baco to Chicago. Nicole asks to hold Holly one more time; she starts crying.  Brady comes to see Chloe; he asks her straight out if Holly is Nicole’s baby. She looks frightened.

01-18-2017 (Wednesday)

Abby bumps into Sonny in the square… they reminisce, mentioning Gabi; she asks if he knows how Chad and Gabi still feel about each other. He says he keeps anything told to him in the strictest confidence; she accepts that, and the conversation changes to questions about his life. She asks if there is anyone special; he grins. They go shopping; she asks if he is avoiding her question… he confesses his moment with Paul, on New Year’s Eve. He says it’s not that big of a deal; she says he is beaming and she couldn’t be happier.

Paul tells Rafe the key belongs to a safety deposit box, and he has located the box; they go to see if they can get into it. Shane got them clearance; they show Steffano’s picture to the banker and he verifies he is the owner of the box, but he says the man’s name is something else (I didn’t catch). They go through the items, finding a chess piece ‘the Queen’ but not much more… some papers, a property deed in the name of Rudolfo Muradi for two properties; they begin thinking this is all a set up, a game Steffano is playing with them, possibly trying to lure them somewhere. They say it’s all they have and they are going to work with it. They each check out a house on the property, come back and say that they were both abandoned; nothing there. Shane stakes them out for twenty-four hours.

Jen JJ eat lunch at the pub; she tells him she is proud and calls him “Detective”… she asks if he might have another chance with Gabi? He tells her they are over for good… tells her about Lani. He says he doesn’t blame Gabi. Chad and Gabi talk in the park; he thanks her for the warning about Deimos trying to kill Andre. She says she.didn’t want him getting hurt. Chad assures her it will be fine, but she fears things are going to get worse. He comes home and grabs Abigail from behind, squeezing her; she squeals happily, but then he confesses that he was just with Gabi – just thanking her for saving Andre. She acts like it doesn’t bother her at all, but when he goes to make a business call, her expression changes.

Hope presses Eric for his story; he says, another time… the knocking continues. Eric says he has plan… Policeman comes in and the place is clean, bed made; Eric is on probation – swears he knows nothing of Hope’s escape and tells them to look around all they want. After they leave, Hope comes out; she was somewhere behind loose boards in the dining room? She insists he tell her why he didn’t go home after getting out on parole; he tells her just to rest and be quiet so her stitches don’t come out, as he helps her back onto the bed. He tells her he did it all, therapy and counseling, was trying to get better; a woman who he once ministered to was on a ledge about to jump… they needed him to talk her down, so they took him to the hospital where he climbs out on the ledge and talks to this woman; she’s surprised he remembers her, gets upset when he mentions her dad. She’s a cutter, as is obvious by the scars on her arm; he says he’s not judging her, just wants to help. He gets her to look at him; scene flashes back to Hope, saying his family must be so proud. He says he hasn’t finished the whole story… back on the ledge, the girl sits down; he crouches next to her, tells her he has messed up too. She questions how, as he is a priest; he says he is a man. She grabs his hand and he begins to help her over to the window.

JJ tells his mom he has to get back to work; she asks about the case, just something down at the docks, he says; can’t talk about it. Leaves. Dario tells Eduardo that Kate didn’t steal the drive… it was Deimos. Eduardo feels bad for accusing her now and saying what he said to her; Dario tells him they have to focus on this war. JJ walks in, flashing his badge… there to investigate accusations of bribery. Eduardo refuses to give any information; JJ says he will be keeping a very close eye on his business down at the docks. JJ says it isn’t personal; Eduardo says it’s always personal. JJ comes back to the park to find his mom on the phone with somebody; he looks disappointed or surprised. She says she wouldn’t be a responsible journalist if she didn’t investigate; he says this is too dangerous, and he doesn’t want her anywhere near it. He walks away; she calls right back saying she needs to know whatever they can find out about GDR and their business dealings down at the dock. Gabi meets with Dario, asking what she can do to help; now she is just concerned about the safety of their family. He tells her to get “her boyfriend” to back off of their family. She says even if he was still her boyfriend, she couldn’t tell him not to do his job; she says if they are doing something wrong, they are the ones who need to stop, before someone gets hurt.

Chad calls Dario; he asks to meet, saying they need to have a sit down with Sonny Kariakis. He agrees; he tells Gabi to stay out of this. She follows him. Dario asks for a promise in writing that GDR won’t get lost in the shuffle just because they aren’t as big as DeMira or Titan; Gabi walks into a dark, empty office to find Abby already there, snooping around. He says everything he told that girl, to get her off the ledge, was a lie… calls himself a fraud. Hope tells Eric everyone would love it if he came home; he gets angry, saying he is never going home. He leaves the room and she passes out again.

01-17-2017 (Tuesday) HOME SWEET HOME

Joey and Jade meet at the café, he has a surprise for her. He and Kayla bring her to an apartment near the school… Jade immediately mentions what a great space it is for a party; Kayla tells her there are strings attached: no parties is one of them; the others, they pay rent, Joey gets tutoring, and they improve their grades. Ciara walks right in and Jade asks what she’s doing; she says she lives there. Joey explains this is a Communal space; Claire and Theo also live there. Kayla offers to let Ciara come stay with them when she notices it is uncomfortable for her to see Claire with Theo. Ciara thanks her but says she’ll be fine; they hug. Jade goes to get sandwich stuff, asks Kayla to stay.Kayla talks with Joey; she’s concerned about why he is staying with Jade. Joey says it’s not very nice to just say, “hey, nice knowing you,” after Jade just losing the baby. Kayla understands and commends him for that.

Rafe talks to Shaun, who is now looking for Hope; he calls Ciara; they decide to meet at the pub. Marlena and Steve come into an office and have LOUD discussion; Steve says with Anna out there on the loose, anything could go wrong... she could scare Steffano away for good. Marlena manages to quiet him down. Paul and Steve walk into the police station (in Europe); they say it wasn’t Steffano after all. Austin makes comments about some crazy woman running around out there. Rafe comes in; Austin says they don’t need his help. Is there some ‘bad blood’ here, of which I am unaware? Steve and Rafe go back out looking for Steffano, or signs of him. Paul sets up surveillance and sees Anna; He and Rafe run to stop her. Steve gets shot in the process. Rafe finds a key on the ground, where the car sped away…maybe Steffano made a mistake, Rafe says.

This man who has Hope, talks softly to her, saying she’s safe, almost creepily; she asks who he is. He turns, and his demeanor changes instantly; he says, “Hope it’s me Eric.” She asks if she is dreaming… remembers, and describes her abduction. He tells her it sounds far fetched; she asks for his story now…why he didn’t go home. Hope doesn’t feel so good, fades. Comes back around, goes to get medicine to “make her better,” – he says then, they can make plans. She passes out again, he sews her up; she’s okay. There is a knock on the door.

01-16-2017 (Monday)

Theo and Claire sit at the café… Valerie comes in to meet someone; Claire is ready to take a picture of her with her ‘lover’ – Theo says maybe she’s really not doing anything wrong. He mentions Ciara having talked with him about it, and says she’s smart about this stuff; Claire gets pissy, reminding him that SHE is his girlfriend, not Ciara. I really don’t like the way Claire treats him.

Justin stops by to see Adrian; w lunch, a choice of foods; she’s been having a difficult time eating after the chemo. She is enjoying having him there; Sonny comes home and hears him on the phone with Lucas making an agreement for him to take Adrian to her next treatment. Sonny is surprised to see them getting along; he says its great though… just strange.

Deimos is mad at Andre…. He says he is going to finish this business with Andre. Nicole walks in, w Chloe and hears Deimos on the phone threatening to kill Andre; she demands an answer. Nicole asks to talk alone w/ Deimos… Chloe steps out of the room. Brady sees Chloe in the foyer when he walks in; he is shocked to see her standing there. He asks if she is there to talk to Nicole about Holly. She claims just to be there to say thanks; Brady doesn’t believe her. He pushes her for an answer; she passes out. He carries her into the room where Deimos and Nicole are settling their argument and puts her on the couch; Nicole calls 911. Chloe’s okay; just shouldn’t have left; wasn’t discharged. She seems as if she wants to tell Nicole the baby is hers, but she told her mom, she doesn’t know if she ever can now.

01-13-2017 (Friday)

Brady is visiting with Chloe; he tells her that he doesn’t understand why she is doing this and says she needs to wake up so she could just tell everyone the truth. He says people’s lives are going to be ruined if she doesn’t; he starts yelling. Nancy comes in and asks why he is yelling at her daughter; he says he thinks she knows why. She takes Brady out of the room and tells him that she is taking him off of Chloe’s visitation list; she tells him goodbye.

Victor and Maggie are playing Scrabble; Deimos and Nicole come in to tell them that they are getting married. Maggie is happy for Nicole; Victor looks uncertain, but he smiles and welcomes Nicole to the family again. Nicole asks Maggie to join her in telling the staff that she is rejoining the family; Deimos asks Victor why he is so quiet. He says he thinks Deimos may be rushing into this; he feels Nicole is still too in love with Daniel to move on. Additionally, he says, Parker is very important to her and when Chloe wakes up, she won’t let Nicole anywhere near that boy if she is with him. Deimos says Chloe is going to be in for the fight of her life, because he isn’t going to let anyone deprive his wife of what she deserves. Nicole asks Maggie if she is really happy for her; she knows how much she still loves Daniel… Maggie knows Deimos will never replace Daniel in her heart. She says, somehow, you find more real estate there; she tells Nicole that Daniel would have wanted her to move on with her life. Nicole thanks her for understanding; she says she knows Deimos comes with a lot of baggage.

Maggie laughs, saying she married Victor Kariakis, so who is she to judge? Brady walks in to hear them talking about Nicole becoming Mrs. Deimos Kariakis; he doesn’t look happy about it. Maggie excuses herself to check on brunch; Brady asks to see the ring on her finger, and says he is surprised. He thinks it’s sudden, but tells her congratulations, giving her a “lame” hug; she asks him if he thinks it’s a bad idea. He questions if she doesn’t; then he apologizes for being weird, and says if she is happy, then he is happy for her. She thanks him, saying it’s important to her; Deimos walks in, saying it’s important to him as well. Nicole tells Deimos that she needs to go see Chloe; even though she may not hear her, she needs to tell her the news. She leaves; Nicole tells Chloe her news, saying she knows she won’t be happy about it; still, as her friend, she wanted to tell her.  She begs Chloe to wake up, saying Holly needs her mother; she kisses her on the forehead and leaves.  Chloe opens her eyes!

Brady tells Deimos what happened when he went to visit this morning; he says Nancy is not going to stop keeping them from knowing the truth. Deimos gets a call and excuses himself; Brady leans over and grabs his chest, breathing deeply. Maggie comes in and asks Brady if he is alright; he says yes, claiming it’s just the cold air getting into his lungs. She asks him what he thinks about Nicole and Deimos; Brady says he guesses he is just being protective of Daniel. She tells him that she truly believes Daniel would be happy for her; Brady says she deserves happiness. Maggie tells Brady she has to believe that Deimos has changed; she has faith the he will treat Nicole right.

Back at home, Deimos tells his father that he stumbled upon something; he tells him Sonny found out that Eduardo had transferred the data from the microchips onto a hard drive…and he has it. Victor warns him, if Eduardo finds out, he will come after him, reminding Deimos that Eduardo is trained assassin. Andre comes in to talk to Deimos; Deimos tells him he has plans with his fiance, so he needs to make it quick. Andre congratulates him on the engagement… and on stealing his property. He then tells him that Eduardo and Dario had taken his microchips and he knows that Deimos took their hard drive; he says his companies entire future rests on that technology, and asks how far Deimos thinks he will go to get it back

01-12-2017 (Thursday)

JJ and his new boss discuss the case against Eduardo; they have determined that Club TDB is being used as a front for illegal operations. JJ asks if his boss is certain about all of this information; his boss asks if he has a problem investigating ‘family.’ JJ says he had hoped his first assignment would be helping to find Hope, but assures his boss he can do the job.

Eduardo tells Dario the data from the microchips is gone; he says his man loaded the information onto an external drive and it is now missing, and the microchips have been erased. Dario asks if anyone was around when that happened; Eduardo says yes… Kate Roberts. He tells them that they had lunch and when it was over, the drive disappeared; Dario mentions the technology being stolen from Kate and Chad in the first place. Gabi overhears. Gabi is angry with her father; she says he promised her he was going legit. He says this just came up; it’s a huge opportunity and he wants her to be proud of him. She says she is not proud; she’s ashamed. Dario leaves while they are arguing and calls Andre; he tells him they need to have a conversation. Andre says he looks forward to it; they meet in the park.

Dario pulls a gun on Andre, but Andre has backup; a man pulls a gun on Dario. Andre tells Dario he has grown bored of him; next time he and his father decide to start wading into deep water, they should first see what lies beneath the surface. He goes to meet Kate; she tells him she didn’t take the drive… she says she couldn’t betray him. She says she can think of one other person; she calls the guy a snake and says he’s just been waiting to screw them over.

Eduardo tries to explain to Gabi that this is something companies do all the time; he says it’s just a jump-start and once the business is up and going they will never have to do something like this again. He tells Gabi that he wants to make her proud by building something great; he wants to give Ariana everything he could never give her. He says he has to go; he gets up, kisses her forehead and leaves. He goes to meet Kate and accuses her of taking the drive; she tells him it wasn’t her, but says it isn’t for her to say whom it was. He calls her a coward; she says she was trying to protect him, but now she is done with him. She leaves.

JJ calls Gabi and tells her he needs to talk to her about her family; it’s important, he says. She agrees to meet him; he tells her he isn’t supposed to be telling her this, but…she needs to put some distance between her and her father. He says she needs to tell him everything she knows about her father’s business before this blows up in a big way.

01-11-2017 (Wednesday)

Nicole and Deimos are having dinner; he is trying to take her mind off of Holly. She tells him he has done a pretty good job so far; she excuses herself to go to the restroom and tells him when she comes back, they are dancing. Deimos calls Brady and tells him he needs to call the Chicago office and have someone tailing Craig and the kids because they have to find a way to get proof that baby is Nicole’s. As they dance, Deimos tells Nicole he wants to give her everything she’s ever wanted; she says all she’s really ever wanted is a kid of her own, and that is never going to happen. He tells her that they are so perfect together anything is possible. They leave, hear music in the square, and stop to dance again. He asks Nicole to marry him; she says okay. She will marry him. He realizes he needs to get her a ring; he tells her to wait right there. He returns with a jeweler and tells Nicole to pick out the engagement ring she wants; price doesn’t matter.

Kari (?) and Austin arrive at the police station in Europe; Anna asks Kari what she’s doing there… she says Rafe called and told her that they had both been arrested. Kari tells her mother she will try to do what she can to get them released, but she has to promise to stay out of this; Marlena says she has already told Anna she needs to stay out of the investigation. Anna says she doesn’t know what to do with her empty life; her daughter suggests she come spend some time with her grandson, and maybe see what a great kid he is. She gets them released, having no idea what really happened, by telling the judge her mother escaped from a mental hospital and she is taking her back; she has been released into her daughter’s custody, but she refuses to leave without “Tony.” She convinced the judge Marlena was just an innocent bystander. Kari goes to get her father’s ashes back; her mom is happy when she returns with them. Kari leans over to talk to her husband, apologizing for having to take her mother back with them; when she turns around, she sees that her mother is gone.

The maintenance man pushes the garbage bin outside of the prison grounds; Hope punches him when he opens the lid. He says he was just helping out a friend; she thinks he is going to “finish the job” for Sheila and Cocoa and grabs a rock to defend herself. She swings the rock and misses him, then falls down, hitting her head on another rock; the man opens her jacket and sees that she is bleeding from her stomach. Her wound has ripped open and she is unconscious; he asks her not to die on him, explaining that he was trying to help Hattie. He panics and leaves.

An officer comes into Brady’s Pub to serve a search warrant; he tells them that Hope has escaped. Kayla welcomes him to search the premises, saying all he will find is some great clam chowder. He searches and finds nothing, but still is kind of an asshole to them; he tells them the Brady’s don’t write the laws in this town anymore and leaves. Paul is upset that an old man outran him; Rafe says maybe he made another deal with the devil and is young and spry again. Kayla calls Steve to let him know that the cop was there looking for Hope; Steve can’t believe Hope broke out of prison… he hands the phone to Rafe. She tells him what they know; he asks her to put Shaun on the phone. Rafe asks him if he saw her today; Shaun swears she didn’t say anything to him about planning to escape. Ciara asks to talk to Rafe and tells him that her mom can take care of herself; she says they just need to focus on finding Steffano because that’s the best way he can help her mother. He agrees. Ciara hangs up and then admits to Shaun that she is scared. Shaun tells Ciara not to worry because he is going to track Hope down and keep her safe until they find Steffano alive.

Meanwhile, Hope still lays, unconscious on the ground outside of the prison yard. Steve says they have to stay on task; if Steffano gets away this time, they may never find him. Somebody finds Hope; they are wearing a leather jacket and gloves. They pick her up and carry her off.

01-10-2017 (Tuesday)

Chad is at his computer; Abigail comes in to see if he is wants to go with her to take Thomas to her mother’s. He says no, but asks Abby if she would like to go to dinner tonight; she says she would like that. Jen asks Abigail how things are going; if things are back to normal. Abby points out, that “normal” has not ever really been their thing; Jen says maybe they can feel like a normal couple tonight. Abby says she hopes so. Andre comes in and asks Chad if he knows Rafe and his friends are looking for Steffano; he tells Chad he is angry with their father for letting him go to prison for his non-murder. He says they need to maintain a united front, or everything they’ve worked so hard for in this company is going to be destroyed. Chad tells him he doesn’t have time to talk; he has plans with Abby. Andre tells Chad he is a lucky man because he has a chance to love her all over again; he tells him not to waste this chance. Chad agrees with him but tells him he is the last person he would ever turn to for relationship advice; Andre sits down and smiles, saying Chad thinks he knows everything, adding, “just you wait little brother – just you wait.”

Chad and Abby decide to order a bottle of wine before dinner; they laugh about how weird this all is (how his dad came back to life, one week after his wife). He says it’s a good weird; they smile. He asks her to dance; Jen points out pictures of her family and tells Thomas who each one is and something about them. She says Grandpa Tom was one in a million; Chad and Abby continue to dance, and almost kiss again. At home, Chad tells her goodnight at the door of their bedroom, saying they can get a good, uninterrupted night’s sleep with Thomas gone. She changes and stands outside of the bedroom door; he sits on the bed (still dressed), apparently thinking.

Steve tells Rafe if he isn’t focused, he is putting them in danger; he says just because he is worried about Hope, doesn’t mean he isn’t focused. Rafe calls to tell someone that Marlena and Anna have been arrested; he apologizes for how long it’s been since they’ve heard from him.

Hattie and Hope talk; Hattie tells Hope, whether she likes it or not, there is going to be “rumble.” Rafe gets a call; he tells Steve that Hope has left the infirmary. Hope tells Hattie that she has been checking on “Alfie” and may have a lead on the pocket watch; Hattie says that’s good. She says if she gets out, the first thing she is doing is looking up Alfie…and wringing his neck for what he did to her. She starts reminiscing again and mentions this man’s accent; Hope asks more about the accent. Marlena says it was foreign; Hope says that doesn’t help much. The guard comes in and tells Hope that these women have put a hit out on her and she better be careful; Hope asks if she can use her phone. The guard gives it to her, and says she hopes she’s calling one of her friends for a transfer, and leaves; Hope calls a man asking for names of people who bought a certain limited edition pocket watch. She finds out Andre is on the list.  Someone comes up behind Hope and puts a cloth over her mouth; Hope falls to the floor unconscious. Hattie puts Hope in a garbage dumpster, and talks the maintenance man into moving it for her. The alarms start to go off; Hattie asks what’s going on. The warden says an inmate has escaped.

Marlena asks this woman (Anna) how she knew they were there; she says Roman. She tells her she and Tony, are there to get their revenge on Steffano. She pulls out an urn; Marlena tells her she needs help. Apparently, this is Marlena’s sister? Marlena chews her out; she tells her she has now given Steffano a heads up…if that was even he. Anna says that nothing is going to stop her from getting her revenge; she points her gun at Marlena and tells her to get out of her way. Marlena asks her if she has thought this through; Anna says not really… she just knows that she wants to find Steffano. Marlena says thanks to her, they may have found him, and lost him forever; she takes her gun. A police officer happens by and Anna tells him ‘this woman’ took her gun; Marlena admits that she took it away and put the safety on. Paul finds them and asks what’s going on; the officer says that he is about to arrest these two women.

At the police station, Anna won’t shut up and Paul tells her she needs to be quiet; the office says that’s a good idea because she is making things worse for all of them. Steve arrives as the ladies are taken for booking; Steve gets a call from Agent Resnick (?). A meeting has been set up with the man they think is Steffano; he is looking to unload some heavy artillery.

01-09-2017 (Monday)

Rafe, Marlena, Steve and Paul are in Europe, looking for Steffano; Rafe talks to Shane who has set up a meeting for them. Steve says he will be going over photos and stuff his other contacts have; Marlena and Paul go to ask questions at a local café. Steve tells them to be careful; Steffano may know they are there and could even show up. Marlena says she hopes so. Rafe meets with a woman, an agent, who thinks she saw Steffano; she says there was a long table of illegal arms dealers. She said the head of the table, Mr. “D” wore a hat pulled down over his forehead and the lights were turned down low; she says it’s a maybe, not a definite, but she’s glad they are following up on it. Rafe asks her if she could set up a meeting, claiming they have a multi-million dollar shipment. She says she will do what she can.

Paul and Marlena get to the café and ask the waiter about Steffano’s picture; the waiter does recall someone who looked like that, a couple of weeks ago he said, he came in there. Marlena is encouraged. As they talk, a man in a black coat and hat walks by them and sits down at a table next to them; Paul gets up to take a better look, and try to discretely take a picture on his phone. When he stands up, gunshots ring out; the man gets up and leaves. Paul follows him; Marlena goes to look for the shooter. Marlena finds a woman, she calls ‘Anna’ (?) and asks what she thinks she’s doing.

Hope is checking herself out of the infirmary; Hattie tells her she should stay as long as they will let her. Hope says she’ll be fine… Hattie fears Hope will be killed, although, she says, the girls are organizing, hoping to keep the two bullies from taking control. Hope asks Hattie for more information on the man she used to be with; she said he was a “good speaker” and described one-of-a-kind, golden pocket watch he carried. The scene flashes to Andre, looking at an extremely fancy gold pocket watch. Hmmm. He talks to his ‘dead’ father; he tells him he is done playing by his rules. Annabelle comes in to see Hope (the ‘newbie’) and tells her that she has found five more girls who are willing to back her; she says they really need her out there. Hattie tells hope she and the others will do whatever they have to do to support her; Hope says she doesn’t want any more violence. Hope goes to talk to Sheila (one of the two bullies); she tells her that they need to find a way to maintain peace. She seems to be reaching her, but then Sheila’s buddy, Cocoa, come in and they both get ‘tough’ again, leaving Hope confused. Sheila tells Cocoa that she has heard most of “gen pop” is standing by Hope, so if it comes down to a show of force, they are screwed. They decide they need to kill Hope. Hattie and Annabelle find Hope and tell her that there is a target on her back; she says she knows, but she refuses to let them do anything about it. Hattie says she has an idea.

Joey tries to comfort Jade, who is back at the hospital for a follow-up with her OB. He says they could try to have another baby; she asks why he would want that, when he didn’t even want this one. He offers to go in with her, but she says no; she feels that she is on her own with this. Joey tells his mother that he feels this is a punishment for him killing Ava; Kayla tries to tell him that just isn’t true. She says Jade lost the baby because her body decided the baby wasn’t viable; it happens more often than people realize. Kayla questions whether he ever made an appointment with the psychiatrist she recommended (“Dr. Howard”); he says now, but he realizes that he needs to. He says loosing this baby has changed him; he feels he has to find a way to make up for what he has done. Joey asks his mom if Jade can still stay with them; he says she needs to know that they aren’t just going to abandon her, like her family did, because there is no baby now. When Jade comes out, she starts to walk past Joey; he tells her to wait. She says he doesn’t have to pretend he likes her anymore; Joey tells her he isn’t pretending… he tells her he is her friend and he is still there fore her. He says she can still stay with them; she asks why. She says they only accepted her because they thought they were going to be a family; she says she’s going home to pack her bags.

01-06-2017 (Friday)

Theo tells Valerie to explain herself; she tells Theo that her life, and what she does with it, is none of his business. He says if she hadn’t “latched onto” his father, it wouldn’t be his business; she turns the tables, asking what if his father was spying on him and Claire. Theo says he wouldn’t like it. He admits maybe he took it too far; she mocks him… he asks if she is going to tell his dad. Abe walks in at that point; he says it’s a nice surprise seeing the two of them together. He asks what brought this about; Valerie takes credit, saying she asked Theo to meet her. She claims she just wanted to get to know him. Abe goes to order at the bar; Valerie tells Theo she won’t tell his father anything. As far as she is concerned, she says, they have settled this and it’s over. He apologizes and leaves.

Claire goes to see Ciara at work, at the hospital; she tells her that she and Theo got caught listening to Valerie’s conversation. Ciara says she told her it was going to happen; Claire asks her just to be a friend and tell her what to do. Ciara tries to just walk off; Claire asks what her problem is. Ciara says she’s tired of Claire using people, like she used Theo to do her dirty work; Claire says she is just jealous because Theo is with her, and storms out of the room. She finds Theo in the square; Ciara is behind her. Theo tells them what happened, including the fact that Valerie didn’t rat him out to his dad; Ciara asks if he is going drop his conspiracy theory against Dr. Grant then, or what. Claire gets a call from her mom. Ciara tells Theo she doesn’t think Dr. Grant told anyone anything; Theo asks why she likes her. Ciara says because she doesn’t have a reason not to; Theo says he still thinks she is lying about something. Claire comes back and sees Ciara and Theo laughing on the bench and says she has to find a way to get those two apart, for good.

Gabi walks into the station to hear that JJ is getting a promotion, because of his work in finding a girls kidnapper. The girl tells him he is her superhero; Gabi smiles. She tells JJ she is proud of him; he is cold in his response. She says it’s just strange to hear it from someone else before he tells her; he asks why he would tell her anything when they aren’t together anymore. She tells him she didn’t come there to bother her; he asks why she did come then. She says she got a message to come see Rafe; JJ says Rafe had to leave town on personal matters. She is confused; she congratulates him and leaves. The lieutenant brings JJ a file and tells him to check something out on the docks; he leaves without giving any further detail.

Chad and Abigail walk through the square with Thomas; she is extremely nervous. He tells her she has nothing to worry about; there is nothing to hide from anymore, and he assures her that he is there with her. They sit down at a table and coax Thomas into saying “da-da” with Chad making a video “for posterity.” Abigail starts to cry, happy she is there to witness his first word. Ciara comes through the square and is happy to see Abigail; Abby gets up and gives her a hug. Ciara says she has to get going but says they should get together soon; Abby agrees. Chad hands Thomas back to Abigail and goes to close out their tab; he walks straight into Gabi. Awkward. Abigail stares at them; Chad asks Abby if it’s okay that he talks with Gabi for a minute. Abigail says she will just take Thomas on home and they can talk; she says it’s fine. Chad promises her it will be fine; he will be home shortly. She says okay.

At home, she promises Thomas, no matter what happens, she will never leave him again; Andre walks into the room to see Chad. She tells him he is not there; he says he just wants to mend fences. He asks if she’s okay; she says she doesn’t know. Chad and Gabi sit down on a bench in the park; he tells her he worries about her, because he cares about her. She says it doesn’t matter anymore; he says it does. He tells her, before her, he was just getting through the motions each day; she made him feel happy and whole again. She says hearing this is killing her and asks him to stop; she says everything has changed because Abigail is back. He says that doesn’t mean they don’t feel the same anymore; he says he won’t dismiss his feelings for her. She thanks him, but wishes him and Abigail and Thomas all the happiness in the world; she tries to give her necklace back. He asks her to please keep it, holding her hand. Andre asks Abby how things are going with her and Chad; she says sometimes it seems like things are going wonderful, and then something happens. Andre asks, like what; she says, Gabi. Andre is astonished that she allowed him to talk to Gabi alone; she asks how she was supposed to stop it. She starts to panic about Chad coming home and telling her he wants to be with Gabi after all; Andre says she needs to trust Chad. She asks if he believes that, why he freaked out when she says he and Gabi were alone together; she knows he agrees that there may be something to worry about.

When Chad gets home, she asks how it went; he says fine; she isn’t sure how to respond. He tells Abby he is ready to give her everything she wants; she asks if he is sure about that. He says yes.

01-05-2017 (Thursday)

Kate is angry with Andre for putting her in the position of having to steal the microchips from Eduardo. She goes to the club to meet him for their lunch date; he has a table all prepared. He tells her she looks exquisite today; then he receives a phone call. Kate gets up and wanders off. She finds the office where the man is moving information from the microchips to a computer; she introduces herself. Eduardo walks in behind her, asking what she is doing; she says she is looking for him of course. He tells the man to leave the room and asks what she is really doing; she tells him she was hoping to get him alone, coming on to him. He gets up close and tells her he really needs to eat; he escorts her out of the room. Sitting back at the table, Eduardo recalls the first time he saw Kate; he tells her he thought he wouldn’t have a chance. She asks why. He proceeds to compliment her and says she makes him want to be more successful than he ever thought possible and tells her he’s going to make her as proud to be seen with him as he is to be seen with her. She gets a call and tells him it’s from Adrian; she needs to go. He kisses her goodbye and leaves the table; Kate looks at her phone… it’s a text from Andre, asking if she got “it.” She takes a deep breath. Later, Eduardo goes into his office and finds the microchips missing.

Theo and Claire sit, listening to Valerie’s movements with the spy ware Claire purchased; she gets bored with it and suggests they go do something else. Theo refuses; he says he is not quitting until he gets something on Valerie that proves she’s a liar. Just then, they hear her tell someone on the phone that no one is more important to her than they are… and that ‘he’ is her “favorite guy.” Theo says, that’s it – Claire adds, “the smoking gun.” They smile at each other. Valerie sits down with Jennifer at a table in the square; she compliments her husband’s writing, saying she’s sure Jennifer had something to do with that. Jen smiles; she tells Valerie she is happy for her and Abe, saying he has been lonely since his wife died. Valerie sort-of-smiles. Jen mentions years ago when she dated her cousin; Valerie adds, yes, at a time when that was controversial to say the least. Jen agrees, saying it’s hard to believe people were ever so ignorant and narrow-minded; she tells Jen she is not sure she’s ready to make this move permanent yet. They decide to exchange information and Valerie finds the bug when she reaches in her purse; she tells Jennifer she’s pretty sure she knows who planted it. She tells Theo, through the device, that she knows he’s listening; she says they need to talk and tells him to meet her at the pub. Theo tells Claire to get out of there, saying he will take it from there. Valerie shows up and Theo says, “let’s talk.”

Nicole doesn’t understand Nancy’s resistance to her helping take care of Holly; she decides to go to the hospital to visit Chloe – and hopefully get to see the baby. Nancy walks into Chloe’s room, pushing the stroller; she begs Chloe to wake up, telling her she needs to know what to do. As she tells her daughter that she thinks Nicole needs to know the truth, Nicole walks in; she doesn’t seem to hear anything, just sees the baby. She asks if she can hold her; Nancy hesitates, but says of course. Then she tells Nicole that she is going to take the baby back to Chicago, to stay with her brother and grandpa. She says it’s for the best; Nicole is devastated. She begs Nancy to let her take the baby home; Nancy tells her there is no way she’s getting her hands on this baby. Nicole is surprised by Nancy’s hostility and tells her so; Nancy apologizes, but she says, Chloe didn’t want this baby anywhere near Deimos. She’s not going against her wishes. Nicole says she understands and asks to hold Holly one more time, just to say goodbye…adding that she will gladly drive to Chicago anytime they need her help. As Nicole holds the baby again, she remembers her birth; she recalls cleaning her up and handing her to Chloe, Chloe looking at Nicole as she agreed Holly looked just like her mother. She tells Chloe she needs to wake up because a baby needs to be with her mother.

Deimos asks Brady where Eve disappeared to; he tells Deimos that she left Salem, because of him. She said he treated her like a servant; as much as she loved taking care of Tate, she couldn’t put up with Deimos. Deimos apologizes; Brady tells him he needs to learn to play with others better. Deimos says he’s trying. Brady gets the results from his new test; the results are inconclusive – it says the sample was compromised. Deimos gets angry and says he’s heading to the hospital; Nicole was hoping the baby would be there and he says they have to get the proof no matter what the hell it takes. Nancy walks back into the hospital room to hear Nicole saying goodbye to the baby; it seems to get to her. She pulls Nicole away from the stroller and says she has to tell her something. Just as she is about to say more, Deimos steps into the room. Nancy takes the stroller and leaves. Nicole tells Deimos that she is taking Holly back to Chicago because she’s afraid she has become too attached to the baby; she adds, the thing is, it’s the truth. Deimos promises her she will see that baby again very soon.

01-04-2017 (Wednesday) A NEW YEAR

Nicole talks to Nancy; Nancy says the baby is very fussy… sleeps one hour and cries for two. Nicole offers to come help, but Nancy declines her offer. Deimos goes to the other room and tells Brady that he is certain Nancy knows the truth and she is keeping Nicole away from the baby; Brady decides to go pay Nancy a visit. He offers to watch the baby while she goes to shower; he pulls out a Qtip and swabs the baby’s mouth. He puts it in a baggie and sticks it in his coat pocket.

Sonny tells Deimos what Paul found out about the microchip in the fake bag; he asks if Deimos wants Paul to find out what was on the microchip. Deimos says yes; then he tells him that if Paul makes him happy, he shouldn’t let anyone stand in the way of that. Shane announces that there has been another ‘Steffano’ sighting; he says it appears their old friend is most certainly alive and kicking. He’s made an appearance at a meeting of black arms dealers overseas. Marlena asks, if Steffano is alive, who was it that died that night? Marlena tells Shane she wants to help catch Steffano; he tells her it is much too dangerous for someone who hasn’t had any training, but she talks him into letting her go. Sonny meets with Paul at the pub; Paul tells him that he has to go to Prague with Rafe to look for Steffano. They talk about the kiss at the party, both admitting they don’t regret it. They decide to talk more about it when he gets back.

Hope is in the prison hospital; Rafe sits by her side. He is angry; he says she’s only okay because some bitch with a shiv missed her vitals. He says she got lucky this time; he has to get her out of there, he says. He presses her to find out who beat her up; she says she is going to have to meet them head-on. Hope asks who is going with Rafe to Prague; he says Steve, and Marlena and Paul. She worries it might be a set up and tells him to be careful. Steve and Kayla talk about the miscarriage; they say Joey has been sitting with Jade all night. Joey comes out; they hug him. Kayla offers to take him to eat; he doesn’t want to leave Jade that long. He asks why it happened; Kayla does her best to explain that miscarriage in first pregnancies is very common – the body sees the baby as a “germ” she says (it's really more like a parasite). Joey thinks it’s karma, for killing Ava; he decides he needs to confess like he should have done in the first place. Steve gets the call; he tells Kayla he isn’t going to go. He says he’s abandoned his family too many times before; they need him right now. Joey tells his father, he will be fine; he says he should go. Kayla agrees; she tells him to go. He says okay and tells them to stay in touch.

When Nancy comes out of the shower, she asks Brady if he could go get a hair dryer from the front desk; when he leaves the room, she checks his coat pocket and finds the swab in a baggie. She replaces the Qtip with a different one and puts the baggie back. Brady comes back with the hair dryer and tells her he needs to get going; he checks his pocket when he steps out the door, making sure the baggie is still there.

01-03-2017 (Tuesday)

Rafe goes to see Hope; he tells her Steffano may still be alive. She questions how. Rafe says they don’t know how, but the evidence is strong; she wishes him a Happy New Year. He sees the ‘death card’ she was given and asks about it; she tells him it’s nothing. He fears she may truly be in trouble now. The two bullies are pissed that she’s getting a late night visit; they gripe about how unfair it is, them being cops n all. They vow to make Hope pay, tonight. Kayla and Steve count receipts from their New Year’s party at the pub; they say they did pretty good tonight. They make a toast, and include Joey and Jade (offering them sparkling cider). Joey thanks them for making Jade feel like part of the family; they say, she is part of the family…she’s the mother of their grandchild. Jade begins to get cramps; they take her to the hospital. The cramps get worse and she begins bleeding; Kayla orders an ultrasound. She loses the baby; Joey goes back in to comfort her as she lays, crying.

Gabi is pissed to learn that Lani is the one JJ slept with in Miami; Lani accuses him of conveniently forgetting so he didn’t have to tell his girlfriend. She describes their encounter and JJ apologizes, telling her he blacked out and does not remember. Lani says this is for them to sort out and leaves, pissed; JJ tells Gabi that she is the best thing that ever happened to her. She says it’s just too late; he already broke her heart…she tells him they are over, for good. JJ pologizes to Lani; they decide to start over, as friends.

Thomas wakes up and interrupts Chad and Abigail’s kiss; she tells Chad, whatever happens between the two of them, she wants to be a family again. He says okay and tells her he’s going to bed; she goes to check on the baby. She tells Thomas he didn’t say ‘goodnight’ – she wonders if that was an invitation. She opens the door to the bedroom, dressed in her nightgown; she tells him she wants to go back to the way things were. She takes his hand; he looks at her. He asks what she’s doing; she says, the door was open. He tells her he always leaves it open to hear Thomas better. She apologizes. He tells her about his father possibly still being alive; he says he is done with people who leave him to think they are dead and don’t care how much it hurts him. She says he can’t compare what she did to what his father has done; she was trying to save them pain. Chad points out that pain is exactly what she caused them.

He says he wishes he could just get over; he wishes he could just take her in his arms and make love to her. He grabs her and they start kissing again; they almost begin to make love. He stops; he says he can’t do this. She tells him it’s alright; she says they have plenty of time, telling him this is going to be a good year for them. She gets out of bed and leaves the room.

12-30-2016 (Friday) HAPPY NEW YEAR'S SALEM!

Andre is about to pour himself some champagne in a booth, where he sits by himself; he invites Chad to join him for the New Year. Chad sits down, but before they toast, Chad says he’s still trying to decide whether or not he is going to kill Andre for letting him think his wife was dead. He reminds him, not only did he let him think his wife was dead, he took advantage of his weakness, lied about his business, lied about his family, and kept a secret microchip program from him… he asks why he should ever believe him again. Andre replies to this by telling Chad their father may still be alive. He swears he had nothing to do with this, however, having just found out today when the Brady’s dug up the grave; the poor soul in there, he says, was not their father.

Andre questions how his reunion with Abigail is going; Chad says it isn’t his business. He argues it is, tells him to get over his anger and move on with their lives; Chad tells him he doesn’t want advice from him on his marriage. Andre says, if their father is alive, he and Thomas are going to need Abigail more than ever. Gabi sits Abigail back down on the bench; Abby snaps out of it when Gabi says she is going to call Chad.  She says she isn’t going to have her husband feel like he has to walk on eggshells around her; she says she is strong and won’t just fall apart when things get tough.  Gabi asks what triggered this episode; Abigail says, thinking about Chad and what she did and how she pushed her husband right into Gabi’s arms.  She asks Gabi to tell her how it started with her and Chad; she complies, adding that, thinking she was dead, Chad was just going through the motions of living.  She tells her about the business dinner; Chad making her feel smart and capable… then what JJ did and Chad making her feel worth more than that.  Abigail realizes that Gabi really loves Chad and tells her so.  She asks if she is going to stand in the way of her getting her husband and family back.  Gabi says whatever was going on with her and Chad doesn’t compare to what she and Chad have.  Just then, Chad calls Gabi’s phone… Abby sneaks off.

Kate is on the phone; she says she learned from her other source that Eduardo Hernandez is involved in the theft of the microchips from the DeMiras…she says she thought she knew him.  She says they better not be wrong and hangs up; she goes back to the table and gets her sweater – she tells Eduardo that she has business to attend to.  He can’t believe she’s blowing him off on New Year’s Eve; she kisses him gently and says they are good,… they are solid.  Kate joins Andre in his booth at the club; she tells him there are other ways to retrieve these microchips.  He insinuates that he might do something awful to Eduardo if she doesn’t agree to get the microchips for them.  Kate goes back to see Eduardo, who is just telling Gabi goodbye as she goes off to the club, as he agreed to watch Ariana.  She tells him that she wanted to be with him at midnight so she hurried; they dance for a moment to the music softly playing and then they kiss.

Sonny tells JJ that he heard the good news, adding Chad must be real excited. Sonny tells him he’d have to ask Chad that; his tone of voice says he doesn’t think so. He mentions Chad having moved on; Sonny says, ah, they weren’t serious. JJ is stunned to learn that Sonny knew about Chad and Gabi. JJ says he can’t blame Chad because he was lonely, Gabi is awesome and was hurting… he gets it. He tells Sonny he is going to win Gabi’s heart back, filling him in on his infidelity in Miami. Sonny tells him that Gabi is going to be at Club TBD by midnight; Sonny says, “let’s go.”

Abigail goes back to the mansion, gets in a pretty dress and waits by the fireplace with a glass of champagne for Chad. He comes in just before midnight. She tells him she is looking forward to starting the new year off with him; they toast and drink their champagne. She puts her glass down after he sits his down; she reaches up again to kiss him and this time he responds in like.

JJ sees Lani at the club; she is surprisingly cold to him again. He doesn’t understand why. He tells Paul that’s like the third time she’s acted that way; Paul suggests he go ask her straight out what’s wrong. So he does; Lani responds with astonishment, that he would even ask what he did, after “what happened in Miami.” He still doesn’t catch on; she asks him if he seriously just conveniently forgot that they had sex in Miami. JJ is apparently bewildered. She pulls up a picture on her phone of them in bed together, taking a selfie; Gabi walks into the club and sees them looking at the picture. She can’t believe this is who he slept with in Miami. Paul’s date takes him by the hand and walks him over the counter where Sonny is sitting; he tells him that he is going to gracefully bow out – he says it is obvious that Paul still has feelings for Sonny and it appears that Sonny still has feelings for him to. He says, he is done fighting this; maybe they should be too. When the bells and whistles go off at midnight, Sonny stands up and pulls Paul to him; they kiss.

12-29-2016 (Thursday)

Lucas comes to see Adrian through another round of chemo; Justin shows up too. Again, they stick her with the decision of which one of them to pick as neither of them are willing to just leave. (I say Lucas was there first, he should be able to stay with her – I don’t know why she let’s Justin get to her so.) Kate comes and saves the day; she tells both the men to get lost and goes in with Adrian, herself. Kate jokes that her son and Justin are like two puppies; Adrian breaks out in laughter and says she is glad Kate is there. When she steps out the door, she sees Justin and Lucas shaking hands; they have decided to try to get along, for Adrian’s sake. Kate takes Adrian home; Adrian tells her that she has decided to let Lucas and Justin alternate going with her to chemo. She tells Kate, however, when it comes time for the surgery, she wants HER there. Kate says she’ll be there.

Jennifer is excited when JJ tells her that Abigail is at Chad’s, he has seen her and they are talking. She claps her hands, jumps up and down and then hugs him, saying it’s so great that Abigail has her family back. JJ does not mention anything about Gabi. Jennifer decides to go see Abigail. Gabi tells her brother, Dario, that there was no need for her to tell Chad about Abigail because he already knew; she says Abby was there, and still is… (this is several days after Christmas now). Dario assumes they are back together then; Gabi says she doesn’t know. She carries on about how wrong it was of Abigail to let her husband think she was dead, but assures her brother that nothing further will happen between her and Chad, since he is still married. He doesn’t believe her; he says he is tired of seeing her get hurt by men who don’t deserve her. After Dario leaves, JJ approaches Gabi; he asks to sit down. She allows it and he proceeds to tell her that he believes his sister and Chad are going to work things out. She asks why he feels the need to tell her that; he says because he hopes that she can get over him. He claims he doesn’t want to see her get hurt, because he already hurt her – he tells her he still loves her.

Abigail comes the room where Chad is; she tells him she put Thomas down for his nap, and found an old playlist of their favorite songs. She puts it on, asking if he would dance with her. She has to pull him to his feet, but he does dance with her; he holds her, she tries to kiss him, he refuses… he tells her he is sorry, but he can’t. She tells him it’s important for them to remember what they had, to try to get it back; she says she went online and bought stuff for New Year’s – champagne and party hats. Chad breaks momentarily and laughs, saying champagne and party hats will not fix what’s wrong. Abby asks why not. Lol. She wants to just go forward, like nothing happened and he tells her he just cannot do that. She tells him that she thought about what he said all night long; that he didn’t know “how long” it was going to take for him to get over being mad at her. She is glad he didn’t say “if.” She says she is ready to tell him the entire truth and she tries to explain her thinking at the time, her fear of not being good enough for him, and does her best to convince him that it’s all in the past and she would never want to go anywhere again. He almost looks like he wants to kiss her, but then gets angry again, telling her he doesn’t know what he is going to feel, or when. She asks how he feels now – and if he is still in love with Gabi.

Jennifer shows up; Abby says she needs to go out for some air. Jennifer asks Chad why he is pushing Abigail away. He says he’s not, but she broke his trust; she reminds him what Ben did to her mind. She defends all of their actions, saying they could have lost Abigail forever; he’s afraid that could still happen. He doesn’t want to make a promise to her that he can’t deliver now. Abigail wanders over to her memorial statue; she sits down on the bench when she starts to experience symptoms of a panic attack. Jennifer leaves; Chad looks at the gift that Gabi gave him. Abigail has memories of Chad and Gabi kissing and begins to hyperventilate. Gabi finds her panicing and offers help. Kate is upset that Steffano lied to her again; she says she should be used to it though, as this is the fourth time he’s died and come back to life? Dario and Eduardo talk about business; Dario asks how Kate is going to feel after all this. Eduardo says he believes she will be fine; business is business.

12-28-2016 (Wedensday)

Andre asks why they would want to exhume Steffano’s body; Rafe tells him, he may still be alive – they need to know – they can find out by retesting the DNA from the body in the grave. Andre consents to the exhumation, saying he is more than happy to prove them wrong. Rafe makes the call. Andre talks to Kate now, who questions whether Rafe might be right; she says she knows Andre thought they were close, but she once they she and Steffano were close too. She was wrong; maybe he was too. Rafe comes back and tells everyone that the test was conclusive… the body in that grave is NOT Steffano DeMira.

Chloe’s mother gets in the way of Brady and Deimos’ sloppy attempt to get the baby’s DNA, although Deimos really could have swabbed inside a cheek quickly even when Nancy came into the room because she was focused on Chloe at first. She tells them that she is staying at the Salem Inn and she will be taking the baby there with her, until Chloe recovers. Nicole offers to help take care of Holly when she comes to sit with Chloe. Nancy politely refuses her offer. Nicole tells Brady how she noticed that Holly really resembles Parker when he was born; she always thought Parker was “all Daniel” but he must be more like Chloe than she thought. As she steps away, Brady and Deimos agree it is looking more and more like this baby is Nicole’s. Nancy talks to her daughter, telling her that she feels horrible about lying to Nicole – she has a right to know that little girl is hers, she says, but she made a promise to Chloe.

Nicole comes back into the waiting room and tells Deimos that she’s sorry for getting so emotional, she just had herself convinced (as Holly’s Godmother) that she would be taking care of her for Chloe; she asks Deimos why her heart hurts so much. Brady goes in to talk to Nancy; she thanks him for getting to Chloe in time. He tells her it was Deimos who arranged the helicopter; she responds harshly that she doesn’t want to hear that man’s name, nor does she want him anywhere near her daughter. She asks about Philip; Brady tells her he went awall again and no one really knows where he went. She cries, realizing that Chloe broke Philip’s heart again. She asks for time alone with her daughter; Brady leaves. Marlena comes to talk to Brady, at his request; he needs her advice about Chloe and his belief that this baby is Nicole’s. He’s asking if he should tell her; he cautions that he’s not 100% sure – if she is, she deserves to know; but if he’s wrong, her heart couldn’t take it. She agrees with his decision to wait until he has proof.

Joey brings Jade breakfast at the café; he’s working this morning I guess. He’s made her a special breakfast sandwich with all kinds of stuff pregnant women should eat, and a side of his grandma’s mashed sweet potatoes. She complains about how she feels, and looks; Joey tells her, he thinks she’s beautiful (hmm, looks like she’s winning him back over). He asks her if she wants dessert; she declines. A man comes in; it’s her father. He says, “this is where you’ve been hiding” and demands that she look him in the eye. He calls her a thief; says she snuck back into his house and stole his money – he wants it back and calls her an “ungrateful bitch.” She’s denies taking it; her dad grabs her purse and finds the envelope, with a picture of her and him and $$$. She says she was going to pay him back; he calls her a thief AND a freeloader… Joey tells him not to talk to her that way. He tells him he should apologize, adding that this stress is not good for the baby, and tells him to go to hell when he insults them both. He mocks them; says she even killed her pet hermit crab in two weeks. Joey threatens to call the police if he doesn’t leave the establishment; the man takes his money back and throws the picture down, telling her she can keep that; it means nothing to him. He leaves. She thanks Joey he sits down.

Jade talks about babysitting when she was younger; he says he bets she was great with those kids. He tells her she is going to be a great mom; she reaches out and takes his hand, adding that she thinks he will be a great dad. He tells her he regrets being so mean to her before and accusing her of getting pregnant on purpose; he then tells her he really wants to take care of her and the baby now. Nancy is ready to leave the hospital with the baby; Nicole asks to say goodbye. She apologizes for crying as she hands her back; she says she doesn’t know what’s wrong with her… she’s just emotional. As Nancy walks away, Deimos calls out and tells her to stop. He tells her he wants to make amends with her and offers to help by calling top specialists to take care of Chloe; she responds by telling him the best doctors are their friends, right there at the hospital and they won’t be needing his help, now or ever.
