07-03-2017 (Monday) Over My Dead Body

Chad gets a text from Abigail, asking him to keep Thomas a little longer.  He replays the memory of asking Abigail if she wants to be his wife again, and her saying yes, then kissing her; he asks himself why he can’t stop thinking about her.  He goes to the station to talk to her.   JJ tells his mother and Abby that he would think he’d remember shoving that knife in Deimos’ chest; Jen says he doesn’t remember, because he didn’t do it.  JJ tells her as much as he hated the guy, he thinks it is possible he did kill him.  Gabi tells Rafe that she doesn’t believe JJ killed Deimos, and until someone can prove it to her, she will never believe it. She asks if he thinks JJ did it; Rafe says he doesn’t know, but if he did, it was under the influence of a powerful drug.  She tells her brother, the guilt of killing a living soul would devastate JJ if he did, because she’s seen how upset he was when he couldn’t help a victim; Rafe tells her it sounds like she still has feelings for JJ.  She tells him they danced that night, but that is all; he tells her he and Hope danced too.  He also tells her he proposed to Hope, and says he wants to do it again (not under the influence), but he needs her help.

Dario comes in to the station and asks if he can interrupt, telling Abigail it’s important; Jen says this is important too.  Abigail tells her mom and JJ she’ll be right back.  Dario tells Abigail he needs her to come with him; he says it’s a matter of life and death.  He takes her to the Club and tells her that immigration is coming after him sooner than he thought; he says it would be best if they were already married.  She says she can’t marry him while her brother is being accused of murder, because she needs to be there for him; he says a five-minute ceremony won’t stop her from being there for him.  She agrees, but then argues that it just seems wrong to do something that is supposed to be so meaningful, while he is being held.  Dario tells her it’s okay if she’s changed her mind; she tells him she hasn’t changed her mind.  Abby says they can’t just walk into the courthouse without an appointment; Dario sees Abe enter the Club.  Abe asks if Dario would take his order; Dario asks him if he would pronounce he and Abby, husband and wife.  Dario says they’ve been in love for a while; Abe asks to hear that from the bride-to-be as well.  Abigail tells Abe that marrying Dario is what she wants to do.  Abe says he wants to talk to Jennifer first; Abigail protests that she is an adult, but Abe says he won’t do it without talking to her mother first.

Sonny sees Chad in the square; Chad confronts him about taking the amulet.  He says the party last night was proof that the amulet was bad luck; Sonny says, if that’s true, Deimos was it’s last victim.  Chad says that’s not true, because JJ is now being accused of murder.  Sonny says he is confidant JJ will be cleared; thanks to Deimos, he says, no one really remembers anything.  He says it’s fitting that his own actions provide a cover for his murder.  Chad brings up the amulet again, saying he never bought into his dad’s superstitions, but now he is starting to think we don’t have as much control over our lives as we like to believe.  Gabi and Rafe run into Chad and Sonny in the Square; Sonny asks if they can schedule a play date for Ariana soon and says he’ll call her.  Chad asks where they are going; Rafe says she is helping him with a surprise.  Chad and Gabi agree to meet later.

Hope tells JJ that the only evidence they have is Lani’s testimony and the blood on his shirt; all circumstantial.  She says they will have no choice but to let him go, if nothing else comes to light in the next few hours.  Justin tells him he’s pretty much off the hook; JJ wonders, if he didn’t stick that knife in Deimos’ chest, which one of them did. Sonny is on the phone; he sends a message to his employees.  Justin says he is proud of him, despite firing the 50 employees he fired the first week; he tells his father, with Deimos gone now, nothing will stop him from achieving everything he has put his mind to.  Sonny recalls his struggle with Deimos again; he asks himself, “is it possible that I…?”  Paul asks, “that you what?”  Sonny asks how long he has been there; Paul says long enough to see that something is bothering him.  He claims it’s just work; then he confesses that he remembers fighting with Deimos in the hall.  Paul points out that Deimos was found dead in the living room; he tells Sonny they should keep this quite unless something changes.  Hope comes back in and tells JJ she is sorry; she hands him a record of new evidence in the case against him.  He sits down to read it.  They have found JJ’s DNA under Deimos’ fingernails; Hope lovingly recites his Miranda Rights and places him under arrest.  Sonny has flashbacks of him, standing over Deimos’ dead body; it isn’t evident whether or not there is blood on his hands.  He gasps, “oh my god.”

Abe tells Abigail that her mother gave her blessing, begrudgingly; he says she didn’t sound too happy about it.  Abby says she will be, eventually.  They begin the ceremony, with Dario asking if he can say a few words and he talks about how wonderful Abby is, always putting others’ needs before her own, making sure those she cares about are protected, safe and happy, no matter what it costs her.  He vows to love her with the same generous spirit she has always shown him, and to put her first, proving to her every moment of every day that he is worthy of all the times she has done that for him.  Abby says she wants to say something too; she tells Dario he did everything for her, he says she did for him.  She says she never felt the need to explain herself to him; he just let her be and that meant a lot to her.  Dario recites his promise to love, honor and keep her all the days of his life; she begins to recite hers, and Chad walks in.
