07-31-2017 (Monday) Watch Out, Abigail!

Marlena is not happy to see Hattie in her room; she tells her to leave.  Hattie says she’s not ready to do that.  Marlena asks her what she wants; she says she wants her life.  Hattie tells Marlena how jealous she is of her and how she’s tired of always getting the short end of the stick; Marlena acknowledges that she knows she’s upset.  Hattie starts bitching about Andre and how he deserves to be punished; Marlena says she doesn’t see how that involves her.  Hattie tells her, she will.  She then condemns Marlena for throwing away a perfectly good guy (Roman); Marlena suggests Hattie go down to the Pub to talk to him.  Hattie says he doesn’t know she’s alive, but says he never got over Marlena; Marlena says Roman knows John is the only man she loves.  Hattie tells her that is going to change, as soon as she takes her place.  Marlena asks what that means, and says again Hattie needs to leave; Marlena goes to open the door, but gets unsteady; Hattie laughs that she had spiked the champagne.  Marlena grows weaker and weaker, and goes to lay on the bed; she asks what’s wrong with her… Hattie says Acute Drug Toxicity.

John tells Paul he is looking for lilacs; he is going home to see Marlena.  He tells him not to call, because he doesn’t need any interruptions when he gets home this time.  Paul agrees, saying he has a lot to make up for to Marlena.  John says, yes, but first they need to decide how to deal with the information they got in Greece… fact that Victor masterminded Deimos’ murder and is letting Sonny take the blame for it.  John has no idea what is happening at home, as he lingers, still talking to Paul about what he has put Marlena through; he heads home, but it might be too late.  Marlena is passing out, and Hattie is preparing to take over, as she picks up Marlena’s phone.  She says, “it’s Hattie time.”  John comes in and hollers up the stairs; Marlena tries to call out, but can only manage a whisper of “help” before she loses consciousness.  John walks into the bedroom; he looks confused.  Looking around, he asks, “what the hell?”  John picks up Marlena’s nightie from off the floor; at this very moment, Hattie drags a duffle bag down the alley, complaining about how heavy Marlena is.

Victor comes to see Sonny; he says he shouldn’t still be in there.  Sonny tells him his father is going back to Greece to follow up on another lead; Victor asks what that would be.  Sonny says he isn’t sure, but he says the memory of moving Deimos’ body makes him look even more guilty; Victor tells him there is no way in hell he is going down for the murder of his worthless brother.  Sonny asks how he can be so sure; Victor doesn’t answer.  Sonny reminds Victor that he told him the other day there was no line he wouldn’t cross to help him, and asks what he meant by that.  He says he was talking about paying for the best representation money can buy; Sonny says he thought it sounded a bit more extreme.  Victor jokes about being such a moderate guy; Sonny takes his grandfather’s hand and tells him he loves him.  When Victor sees Paul at the station, he tries to get out of him what information they found in Greece; Paul tells him he is not allowed to say.  Paul goes in to see Sonny, and hugs him gently; Sonny says he missed him and asks how it went.  Paul tells him they are on the right and he isn’t going to stop until he gets him out of there.  Victor makes a call; he says he can’t let Sonny stay in that jail any longer, so it’s time to give the police another suspect.

Steve tells Tripp that nurse Shelly could not have been the one who changed Kayla’s notes; he says he can’t imagine who else could have done it, because he KNOWS Tripp wouldn’t have done it.  Guilt is all over Tripp’s face.  Kayla sits down at the Pub; Roman offers her a drink.  She says she could use a succession of them; he tells her he sent Joey home early and asks what wrong.  She says she just cleared out her office and changes her mind about the drink.  He asks what Steve is looking into now that nurse Shelly has been cleared of suspicion; Kayla says she thinks they have hit a dead end.  Steve and Tripp come into the Pub; Steve makes a big deal out of how hard Tripp has been working to try to help him prove who has been setting her up.  Kayla tells Tripp that even though he can’t shadow her at the hospital anymore, she still wants to work with him and help him become a doctor.  He tells her she doesn’t have to do that.  She tells him he is a natural; the conversation turns to his mother and her last minutes in the hospital, and Kayla’s attempt to try to save her.  She tells him she is very sorry for the way things turned out; he tells her that means a lot to him.  Roman pulls Steve aside and tells him about his talk with Joey; he tells him the guilt is getting worse for him and it has something to do with seeing how much losing his mother has hurt Tripp.  Roman pours he and Steve a shot and they drink them; he asks if there is anything he can do… Steve says no, this is something he has to handle alone.  Roman says if he changes his mind, he knows where he is.

Kayla’s director calls, saying there has been recent findings in the investigation and asks if she can come in to talk to him; she tells Steve he didn’t say way, but Seth Burns wants to see her – she says, he sounded grim.  Steve looks at Tripp as they leave; Tripp looks away, avoiding eye contact.  Mr. Burns tells Kayla, Mrs. Sherman’s autopsy revealed the appropriate amount of medication in her system; there was no physical error… in addition to that, he reports, the IT department says there may have been a glitch in the system that could have caused the mistakes in the record; he says there has been another incident since she’s been gone.  She is being reinstated immediately; he tells her multiple traumas are on the way and they need her there.  Steve goes back to tell Roman Kayla has been reinstated; he asks where Tripp went and Roman says he doesn’t know.  He asks Steve to give him a hand with something in the back; Tripp comes out from the restroom and smashes a vase full of flowers.  He says she isn’t getting away with killing his mother, and leaves the Pub.

As Abigail screams for Chad to get out of the way of the oncoming car, she runs and pushes him away, then stands there as the car appears to be heading for her.  Dario screams out to her; as the car speeds by, Abby gets thrown to the ground, bleeding and battered.  Chad goes to call for an ambulance; Dario leans over Abby, telling her he is so sorry for this.  Dario admits to Chad that the car was coming for him, saying that’s why he was going into Witness Protection; Chad tells Dario he should just get out of there.  He says he will stay with Abigail, and screams for Dario to leave.  Dario goes; Chad kisses Abigail’s bloody cheek.  The ambulance arrives; they ask if Chad is her husband… he hesitates, but then admits, no.  They says he can’t ride in the ambulance with her then and tell him to wait there for the police; he stands for a moment, then says, “like hell” and runs after them.  Kayla is shocked to see that the first trauma being brought in to her is Abigail.  Chad walks in the door right after her.  The doctor asks Chad if he saw what happened to her; he replays the scene in his head… Abby screaming out to him, pushing him out of the way, and turning to have the car scoop her up; she rolls over the top of the car and off the back, landing on the ground.  He tells them he couldn’t get the make or model of the car, and says Dario is gone.
