06-05-2017 (Monday) Jungle Madness

JJ and Lani interrupt Gabi and Chad; they tell them the island is a bit more dangerous than they thought.  They tell them about the skull and an old shelter they found; they also show them a journal they found.  Chad asks what they are waiting for; he wants to look for more clues.  JJ begins reading.  May 6 2007; talks about a mosquito bit, fever, inability to sleep, mood swings and violence… May 9th talks about an attack; a woman describing her husband being bitten and then changing, diagnosed with something called “Jungle Madness.”  Chad says he had a brother who got that once; JJ says, “yeah, he tried to kill my parents.”  Lani tells JJ to keep reading.  The woman talks about a doctor who was going to leave the island to get medicine, but he didn’t get the chance; her husband killed him first.  She says she believes he is coming for her next; that is the last entry in the journal.

The group gets a little freaked out; Gabi says what if the man is still on the island… Chad reminds her, this was ten years ago.  He says there is no way the man could have survived all this time.  Sonny shows up asking if they have seen Paul; he says he went to pick some fruit for literally two minutes and Paul was gone when he came back.  Paul appears; Sonny hugs him.  He asks where he went; Paul says he got feeling nauseous and went to the lagoon for some water.  He says he feels better; Sonny says he still doesn’t look well.  Sonny suggests they take a break; he says he’s good and wants to keep working.  Sonny asks again if he is sure he’s okay, and offers to clean the fish for him; Paul snaps at him, saying, “I told you I’m fine!”  Sonny looks at him, and backs off; tells him just to holler if he needs any help.  JJ bends down and notices that Paul has two small spots of blood on the side of his shirt; he asks if he cut himself.  Paul says maybe when he was gutting the fish earlier; Paul begins to hear everyone talking, but it is distorted and garbled.

Dario puts together a crib for Thomas; Abigail tells him he didn’t have to do that, but she appreciates it.  He tells her she can still back out of the marriage at any time; she tells him she spoke to her lawyer today and found out it is going to be six months before the divorce is final.  He says he doesn’t have six months; he’ll be deported and then be dead, he says.  Jen comes to see Abigail in her new apartment; she is surprised to see Dario there.  Abby tells her mom “it’s just an arrangement” letting her in on the secret that she is marrying him to keep him from being deported.  Jen is concerned; she reminds Abby that he looks at her as more than a friend.  She says she feels like she owes him; Jen says appreciation or a thank you note, maybe, but not marriage.  She says he has done a lot for her; he has been supportive and kind, and she doesn’t want to let him down.  She tells Jen it isn’t going to be forever; Jen says it could be years and it’s highly illegal.  She says you are supposed to marry someone because you love them; Abby says she may never find love again after Chad.  Jen tells her she will, but not if she’s in a sham-marriage; she asks what happens to Thomas after he gets attached and then Dario disappears.  Abby says he is her friend; he isn’t going to just disappear.  Jen tells Abigail she could go to prison; she says that isn’t going to happen.  Abby gets a call from the commissioner, who tells her that Dario’s story checks out; he is on every hit list in Mexico.

Andre tells Kate about the plane going down; she is surprised to learn that Gabi was also on it.  She says this has Deimos written all over it; then she says he must be thrilled.  With Chad out of the way, he stands to inherit the DeMira fortune.  Andre tells Kate he loves Chad; he’s his brother.  He says they will find him; he hugs her.  Andre pours Kate a glass of wine; she gets a call from one of DeMira Industries’ directors.  He is asking about the missing plane; he tells her the Board of Directors is writing Chad’s obituary.  She says the annual CEO vote is tomorrow and was supposed to be a formality, but “Mr. Shin” thinks without stable leadership, the company will be vulnerable.  Andre suggests himself; Kate tells him that the Board thinks he is “mentally unstable.”  He calls Mr. Shin who tells him they can’t risk his temperament; Andre tells him he will be at the next board meeting to demonstrate his temperament first hand and hands up on the man.  Kate laughs, after sipping her wine; she says, “a completely mentally stable response.”  She tells him she should throw her hat in the ring; Andre says she isn’t a DeMira… only a DeMira can be CEO.  Kate gets an idea; she asks Andre to marry her.
