Claire appears to be in
shock after she gets a phone call from Julie, telling her that Theo has been
shot; she hyperventilates and passes out on the couch next to Tripp. Abe doesn’t understand how JJ could
“accidentally shoot Theo.” Hope tells JJ she needs him to come to the station to give his statement; she
asks how long he had been on duty when he got the call. He says he had just come from a party and
admits that he had drank one beer, and some champagne; he says they had gone
home for a while though, he and Lani, then before he got the call.
He describes what he saw at the scene – a guy in a hoodie, trying to get in the back entrance of the warehouse, who took off running. When he caught up to him, he says, he swears it looked like he had a gun in his hand; but it turned out to be some kind of a hand-held device he’d never seen before. Hope says forensics told her it is a device used to override security codes; JJ realizes he should have said, “drop whatever is in your hand” rather than “drop the gun.” Theo knew he didn’t have a gun. They discuss Theo’s (autistic) tendency to take everything literally. JJ says there is no way Theo would have been trying to break into the place on his own and they wonder who put him up to it.
Kayla asks Abe for consent to perform surgery on Theo; Valerie agrees to help try to save his life. Lani comes in and tells her brother that he is her favorite person, and just about the most important thing to her. Abe comes in, hugs her and tells his son he thanks god every day for the privilege of being his dad, especially after losing his mother, and begs Theo not to leave him too. JJ is jolted into reality when Hope refers to Theo as his “victim” and tells him he can’t go anywhere near Theo right now. She asks for his badge and gun, which he gives; he leaves. Tripp brings Claire to the hospital; Kayla asks if she’s alright, and she says she is. Kayla suggest that Tripp go with Claire to the E.R., as “backup” and he sees and hears her tell Theo he is the only guy she wants to be with ever and how she loves him so much.
John gets a call from Paul; he tells his dad that he has seen Will; John tells Marlena that Will is alive. However, they don’t know that this ‘Will’ insists his name is E.J. DeMira; Marlena wonders by Will never came home. Rafe, Sammi and JJ are in disbelief. As Susan clings to him, this man explains that he lost the memory of his childhood, but he knows who they are, he says, because his “mother” told him. He pushes past Rafe and Sammi and walks into ‘his’ room; they corner Susan and say it’s about time she tell them how she “saved” this boy, who is obviously not her son, E.J. Susan denies that he is Will; Sammi says they will do DNA testing, pulling up pictures on her phone of E.J. to prove he looks nothing like him.
onny follows the man he believes to be Will into the room and tells him he is never going to give up on him; he says he has a brother, two sisters, two grandmothers and a daughter. That catches his attention; when Sonny says her name, Ariana Grace, ‘Will’ appears to have a reaction. He questions, though, how that could be if they are gay; Sonny explains it was a complicated time, but a very happy one. He asks this man to consider coming back to Salem with him, just to see if anything triggers a memory; he scoffs at Sonny when Sonny tells him he was strangled to death. He tells Sonny to get out; Susan starts to mouth off to Sammi about her children having “two different daddies” saying, “only dogs know how to do that.” Sammi punches her, just as Rafe is dialing the local PD.
