The waiter tells the commissioner that he saw “that man”
standing over Deimos’ dead body, saying, “now you got what you deserved.” Sonny is arrested for the murder of Deimos
Kariakis; the commissioner tells JJ he will prepare his release papers. Adrian breaks down crying; Justin tells her
he will do everything he can to protect their son. She hugs him; Ann tells Lucas that she is the one who has been
running the whole paper for the past two months. She complains that she isn’t getting any credit for it; she
inadvertently tells him that Sonny has confessed to Deimos’ murder. He says he has to go; he walks in to see her
hugging Justin and telling him she doesn’t know what she’d do without him. He tells her they will always be there for
their son, and each other; she notices Lucas and runs to hug him. Paul tells Sonny he is proud of him; he says
he couldn’t let JJ go down for this murder when he had information to clear
him. Paul tells him he is the best man
he’s ever known; he tells him he doesn’t think he did it either and he will
find out who really did. Adrian asks
her son what the argument with Deimos was about; he says, “the amulet.”
Marlena
finds Kate at a table in the Square; she tells her she heart a rumor that she
married Andre DeMira. She tells Marlena
that’s not a rumor; Marlena questions why she would have done that and she does
her best to explain about saving the company.
Besides, she says, everytime she’s married for love, it’s turned out to
be a mitigated disaster. Maybe this is
answer. The woman of Salem meet for a luncheon, Kate, Valerie, Kayla and
Marlena; they begin discussing their significant others, but Kate points out
that they are all successful women of their own accord and they should have
things to talk about besides the men in their lives. Kate says she just read an article about the happiest people in
the world… married men; Kayla says she read that too. Single women, she points out, come in second, then single men;
married women are on the bottom of the happiness heap, she says. They all toast and click their glasses to
being single for the moment (with all their men otherwise occupied). They all get giggly when they bring up
“kids” and toast again. Kayla tells
them all it is nice to have girlfriends and they toast to friendship.
Lucas takes Adrian to the Pub for a
milkshake; he says it will give her the sustenance she needs the rest of the
night. He plans to take a boat out to
watch the sun set; she tells him she can’t because she needs to be home in case
they call about Sonny. He offers to
stay home with her and binge-watch something, instead; Ann shows up next to
them and tells Adrian that she doesn’t have to worry about a thing because she
is holding down the fort. She stupidly
suggests they get Sonny’s exclusive first jail interview to help sell papers;
Lucas tells her to leave.
Lani is investigating at the Martin House; she says
the commissioner called off the search as soon as he zeroed in on JJ. She insists the answer is there somewhere;
she tells Hope and Rafe that she has found something. She hands them a room key from the Salem Inn; they go to
investigate there. They look around the
room, nothing spectacular; they don’t recognize the name used to reserve it
(Sam Reynolds). The clerk comes by and
they ask him about the occupant; he says he wasn’t working yesterday morning
when the man checked out. Rafe and Hope
if the man left yesterday morning. They
realize this wasn’t Deimos’ room wonder, who else would have been at that
party, but the killer? They decide to
go dig through the dumpster. JJ comes
to see how things are going; Rafe invites him to join them. JJ tells them he has been given strict
orders from Raines not to be working on this case. Hope tells Rafe that’s his way of saying he’s not getting in the
dumpster; JJ puts on his gloves and says, no, it just means he’ll have to dig
down deep and hide if someone comes along.
Rafe tells JJ he may have an idea that will help move this case along.
Sonny is booked and fingerprinted, and his personal belongings are
collected. He hugs Lucas and Paul
goodbye and is taken away in handcuffs.
